In time there will be an election and there’s no reason to believe a GOP’er won’t replace Franken after his replacements appointment is over. If that happens Me Too will get more than it’s pound of flesh. All of America will pay dearly.
I am in agreement with you.
I hope he does not resign and feed that frenzy of lies and unproven allegation. No one will be safe in politics or business if we let this insanity spread. The accusers need to be investigated and publicly challenged
Geez, I hope you are right.
I’m sorry, but if we wanted Trump out, and other GOPers, for this, we need to apply the standard evenly…I’m actually proud that Dems who are caught are being forced to resign by their own. Contrast that with tRump and the pedophile…
At this point, I’m starting to think of “me too” as a response to “who wants a book deal?”
Trump: I keep winning. I have over 16 accusers and I have paid money to settle so many, and yet I will stay and collect my $trillions.
I would be curious to know exactly when Minnesota governor Dayton started actively looking for Franken’s replacement.
What standard is that? Any accusation will do? No proof necessary, just your word and a news worthy quote?
So he can be humiliated even more when Moore tells him to go fuck a camel, gets elected and faces no ethics investigation or calls for resignation? Good plan. You’re totally right: What Franken really needs right now is more humiliation…especially the kind that comes from impotent moral posturing.
I"m sure all the women who have come out of hiding to talk about what men have done to them expect that from men.
Well, maybe a couple tears and a good “hook”…something to really trigger the knee-jerk reactionaries who see their own self-advancement in the accused’s insurmountable presumption of guilt.
“I will resign only if Donald Trump resigns. Period. Does that bother you? Get over it. That is all.”
There are dozens of us!
I was joking about the “resigned” vs “retired” thing.
On a more serious note, I could see this going either way. Clearly there is heavy pressure on him to resign. Having 10 of his fellow Democratic senators, including 6 of his female colleagues, calling on him to resign is a pretty heavy shove toward the door. And there may be more by the time he makes his announcement tomorrow.
On the other hand, he has every right to hang in there and await due process, which in this case means the Ethics Committee. He knows that resigning will be interpreted as a kind of admission of guilt. And he just gave a pretty straight-up denial of the newest allegation.
So, yeah, I’m not sure which way he’ll go. It’s possible he’s not sure yet either, but by announcing that there will be an announcement tomorrow, he’s giving himself a deadline by which to decide.
It doesn’t matter because he’s been accused in people’s minds he’s already guilty
Expect what from men? I’m not sure I follow your response.
And they ARE getting book deals…some of them at least.
The women should just let it go. It only makes them suffer again by bringing up old pain. Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao said she has experienced sexual harassment in the workplace but declined to name the perpetrator, saying the person is “still around.” They should stand up for other women, but not their own grievences.
So says Elaine Chao.
At this point, since, apparently zero proof is required, someone will be stepping up and saying Sherrod Brown grabbed them.
Or maybe that Kamala Harris sexually assaulted defendants?
Or that maybe Kirsten Gillibrand grabbed some woman’s breasts at a party.
Sadly, Gillibrand is only doing this for the same reason she said, then had to walk back that Clinton should have resigned: to up her “Independent” bona fides for 2020.
It use to be that Democrats fought for due process. I know- that’s so 20th century. Sad.
