Discussion: Franken To Make Announcement Thursday As Pressure To Resign Grows

SO, Al does the ā€œrightā€ thing and resigns, taken down by a person who is not at all credible given her exploits on other USO tours. Hey----Iā€™m in no way suggesting that she had it coming but seriouslyā€¦ how and where this story surfaced, the person herself, her history of accepting this type of boorish behavior from other men.

And to end Frankenā€™s career over this?

What am I missing here?

He should just accuse the women asking him to resign that they sexually assaulted him and demand they all resign, because thats enough apparently.

If heā€™s gonna do it, and it looks like he will, he should do so a couple of days before the Ala election and challenge Moore to do the same, if elected, or something.

I admit I donā€™t want Franken to resign. But it may be better that he does. And I must also admit, I am taking this position for naked partisan reasons, i.e., the Governor of Minnessota is a Democrat. Were he from a state with a Republican Governor, I would have a different view.

It wonā€™t make a damned bit of difference.

Guilty until proven innocent. Lovely.

I encourage somebody to do the right thing, and not just do the right thing if itā€™ll put electoral pressure on a Republican or whatever.

We live in a world of nuance, and I can be happy to have supported Al Franken for Senate while still be pleased in the event he resigns.

I donā€™t think heā€™s going to resign.

The ā€œnew accuserā€ did not say Franken tried to forcibly kiss her. Politico did. She said she did not know what was going on and surmised that. She said that he was close to her and said

ā€œā€˜Wait, what is happening?ā€™ But I knew whatever was happening was not right and I ducked,ā€ā€.

She did not say Franken made contact with her or tried to press his face to hers. She said she did not know what was going on. Me Too is a greatā€¦but it may be getting too much momentum.

Maybe heā€™s going to follow the Conyers playbook ā€“

Iā€™m not resigning, thereā€™s no way Iā€™m resigning, no resignation for me, not even thinking about resigning, resignation is completely off the tableā€¦oh, by the way, Iā€™m ā€œretiring,ā€ effective immediately.

Al is entitled to due process.

Resign only after a hearing, if it is warrantedā€¦not until.

Al, time to go. Just step through that door over there and join Donald, Harvey, John, Roy, and the other inadequate perverts who havenā€™t been successful with women. Now, fuck off!

Donā€™t think so. Whatever he does, heā€™s not going to wimp his way out of it. If heā€™s going, heā€™ll announce his retirement.

Apparently my initial reaction of ā€œgood ā€“ Bye, Alā€ would not be very popular here.
