By O’Reilly’s journalistic standards, Brian Williams is a war hero. He didn’t just see a picture of a helicopter getting hit by an rpg. He saw the real thing (a while after he landed safely in another helicopter).
At this rate, he’ll be back next week.
Any other network Billo would have been gone by now. No integrity at Fox.
You are a fine FOX News journalist!
I’m a retired newspaperman, born in 1940, who vividly remembers, in 1937, ducking bombs in Guernica during the Spanish Civil War because I saw a picture of the bombing by Pablo Picasso.
But it was not a correction, just a “clarification”. So what he said was accurate, just not clear to the unwashed. So really does not speak to Fox “integrity” or lack thereof, but to the entertainment and viewership value of continuing to stir the pot.
I had seen all the best pictures nominee and I watched the Oscars. I should be in charge of a movie studio.
I didn’t actually “see” it live and in person; but I will be staying at a Holiday Inn Express if FOX fires my sorry ass like they should.
I saw photos of napalm being dropped on enemy positions; oh wait I really did see it in person. (bill-oh where were you) never mind.
Shame on him, and shame on the editors of those books.
They have as much egg on their faces as Bill.
They shouldn’t have jobs after this.
But of course, they will, because any transgression, no matter how damaging, is ok if you’re a wingnut.
If this were Brian Williams, he’d be forced to resign in disgrace.
Anyhoo, this ain’t, and Bill-O will just churn along, throwing epithets at those who question him, collecting that big fat paycheck from Roger Ailes, and Ailes, meanwhile, has lowered the bar, again, (so much so that it’s buried at this point) for journalistic ethics.
Also, it’s another day ending in Y.
Well, by this standard we’ve ALL seen combat.
This is so Bill Clinton. For Bill, it was “it depends on what the meaning of is, is.”
For Bill, its “it depends on what the meaning of ‘seen’, is. For the rest of the world, when a person says “I’ve seen”, it means with my own eyes I saw the thing I said I saw. But when Bill says “I’ve seen soldiers gun down unarmed civilians in Latin America, Irish terrorists kill and maim their fellow citizens in Belfast with bombs,” he means I’ve seen the same pictures of these events everybody else in the world has seen.
But when he says these things, O’Reilly is invariably trying to establish that, because of his experience, he knows more and his opinion is better informed. Only it is not.
I just wonder how his fans who have really been in combat feel about Bill claiming he has been there too. The vets have got to feel like they’ve been played.
Shorter Fox: When O’Lielly said he heard the suicide of the Russian from the doorstep he wasn’t lying … he just meant he’d seen photographs of… oh …, wait.
Bill O,Reilly has been giving his priest a chronic ear ache for years with hale Mary after hale Mary. Even the catholic church doesn’t have enough capacity to handle O’Reilly and Fox news!
Did O’Reilly also see pictures of Harvard or did he really do the work for an MPA degree?
Bill O’Reilly works for Fox news. Fox news has been brought to court for lying and their defense was they were an “Entertainment Network”. Fox News got away with this “defense”. So, I invite you to make up your own mind on this. My take is that Bill is a liar in that he did not directly experience many of the things he brags about and that he embellishes greatly.
By this standard, we’ve all seen the Crucifixion.
He can back tract all he wants; in the end he is a bald faced lier and it is a shame that he is still on the air. A sad commentary on the state of public understanding of honesty.
How anyone on the planet not simply accept that O’Reilly is simply a congenital lair and a egotistical asshole is beyond me. Senator Franken nailed him over a decade ago. He is simply a lying liar who tells lies.
I saw the Hindenburg explode!
