Several other sites have mentioned that Murdick’s spawn have gotten 21st Century to hire an outside firm to do the investigation. If so, Ailes is gone, it is just a matter of time. This has happened before to Ailes, I forget if it was CBS or ABC, but a couple of months after the allegations were made public, he was out the door.

Gay or not I really don’t care. It would seem much like Gretchen’s recent gun control message, Shep has been stepping away from the party line. Either Shep knows something, or Shep knows Ailes is not long at Fox Snews.
The $800,000/yr salary notwithstanding, I can’t think of a thing. Oh, wait. She probably negotiated an Unlimited Ride MetroCard. What a perk-grubbing, spunky little minx!

Not cool, in my opinion.
Shep probably knows plenty (if not more). After all, if you have sources from “both sides of the fence” … And who better to spot others’ peccadillos than one who’s entire life has been considered a “peccadillo” or worse. It’s enough to make one wonder what Anderson knows.
The big question is, when this is all over, will the blue whale will keep Svenka (his private masseuse) and Günter (his 18-year-old “banya besom” boy) on the FOX payroll? Will he have to give up his Bacha bāzī?
Don’t get me wrong. I don’t care either way. I don’t care that he’s closeted - that’s his choice and he, personally, isn’t hypocrite. You have to admit, though - it is amusing that someone who wants to keep their personal life private gets drunk and tries to pick a guy up - a guy who is the Editor of a gay newspaper. That’s what I find funny. Of all the gay guys in bars on a Friday night, Shep picks a newspaper editor!

Question. Does Ailes make money for Murdoch?
Answer: yes. So there has been no moral or ethical wrongdoing.
Morals and ethics don’t exist in Murdoch’s world. They are for irrelevant useless people who do not make money for Murdoch.
Look at what happened in the phone tapping scandal in Britain. One of the chief enablers (and money generators) is back in a key position in the Murdoch empire, after having been given the smallest slap on the wrist that Rupes could get away with.
Ailes is safe (from Murdoch).
But in the context of what @progressiveoldman is saying, that’s not the question.
Murdoch is in the process of turning operations over to his kids. And they have already entered into a power struggle with Ailes. So he isn’t part of the longer term picture.
Hiring an outside firm to investigate would most definitely fit the story line…though I am skeptical, because while they want to get rid of Ailes, they don’t want to tarnish the Fox brand in the process. Plus I suspect that he knows enough about where Rupert has buried bodies that they can’t outright fire the guy without Daddy’s blessing…and that isn’t going to be forthcoming.
A more likely scenario is this because the basis to remove more of Ailes power at Fox. “Based on these findings, we are implementing this changes in the organization structure. Roger Ailes will now be dedicating his time to strategic 20 year plans, and moving away from day to day operations and interactions with Fox media personalities”. That sort of thing.
But there are a lot of moving parts here. If Ailes chooses to fight this in court…how much evidence does Carson actually have…is Rupert tired of dealing with these things and ready to focus on Jagger’s cast off…So its a bit early for any meaningful speculation.

If the old man decides Ailes is worth saving, he’s saved.
If he doesn’t, fetch the guillotine.
Ailes has one massive thing in his favor: he makes a lot of money for Murdoch.
Ailes doesn’t know where Murdoch buried the bodies. Murdoch doesn’t work that way.
If anything it’s the reverse.
Shep did the report, and he does all his own stuff. He’s pretty liberal. He is also the managing editor of the Breaking News division. And they won’t fire him because he has huge ratings. Those ratings would follow him to wherever he went.
