Discussion: Fox News CEO Cracks Down On Offensive Comments: 'Protect The Brand'

Fake news.

In the unholy union of Fox and state, “offensive” and “in line” are the same thing.

“You are responsible for protecting the talent, protecting the brand,” she said.

I think I heard the same pep talk a few years back from the CEO of Circuit City.

The problem for her, is what Fox thinks is offensive and what the rest of us knows is offensive are two very different things. Ad-hominem attacks is their stock in trade.
Plus how can any news channel cover Trump w/o being offensive esp. covering his tweets, speeches and rallies.

Proof positive Fox is pretty lame:

“What’s inappropriate?” the former producer added. “What’s not?"

Telling your usual lies and allowing fabrications and promoting the GOP is inappropriate.
Telling the truth is not inappropriate.

See? Fixed.

“Protect the brand?” Really?? WTF??

It’s not “reigning in” hosts, it’s “reining in.”

That’s the best I’ve got on this story.

Gratuitous mockery of suffering children seems to have finally put a floor to this phenomenon. I never expected to see media ad buyers in the front ranks of the decency defenders but live and learn, right? At any rate this is really, really interesting. There’s a point of radical nihilism beyond which the business model stops working. Interesting.

Besides you knew the job was agitprop when you took it (puk ack!)”

I may as well be the one to make the obvious comment: offensive comments and thinly veiled racism is the Fox News brand!

This is exactly why people say FOX is not a ‘news’ channel despite the hauling out of Bret Baier every time it’s mentioned. It’s either scripted or the pundits were hired because the bosses KNEW they were outrageous and truth wasn’t their fall back position.

It had to be a business decision since the average Fox viewer has no limit to the nihilistic propaganda he’ll swallow.

If you are booking guests for faux, you obviously have an idea of the talking points that will make up the narrative…the Bullshit factor must be high and cater to the zombies that lost their ability to reason long ago…now it all comes down to stoking people’s hatred and blond women in short skirts…and Trump…always deiifying the Don.

It might be effective to pressure the wives of Rupert Murdoch, Lachlan and James. Jerry Hall likely has zero strong political beliefs but Sarah O’Hare and Kathryn Hufschmid are liberal and mortified by some of the coverage. HOWEVER, they profit from the lies, bigotry, hate and racism of their husbands’ company.
Their personal lifestyle is paid for by a company that has largely contributed to the erosion of our country.

I think they should be called out and reminded of this and linked to it…at every chance, be it in a restaurant, public event, or at the march on Saturday. From what I understand, they would not want to be associated w/ Fox’s spewage.

It could have some impact…it’s worth a try at least.

Too F’ing late chump. The brand can’t even be used for compost, it is too toxic.

Kind of like Pravda trying to protect the brand. It is de facto the state’s mouthpiece.

I’m not a big fan of organized boycotts but I encourage friends to do as their consciences suggest. For myself, I think that the ethics of any organization that advertises on Trump TV are questionable and I chose to keep their products out of my home.
