I have read the DoJ’s report and I live in Missouri. I also practice law here. I can tell you that the Report’s findings don’t shock me. Towns are under enormous pressure to raise money. They don’t want to raise property taxes. Fines are an obvious way to raise money. If your goal is to raise money through fines you go after strangers or the poor because they don’t fight back. In the case of Ferguson you have a white government and a lot of poor black people. St. Louis County has a real problem with fine collection rackets. I bet Ferguson isn’t the only one with this racist collection model. The Missouri Supreme Court, not exactly a liberal body, has sent in a highly regarded appellate judge to clean up the mess.

Those of us who were of age in the 1960s were aware of the angst of Right Wingers, who were stymied by the three major networks. They had to inhabit the dregs of Talk Radio and these were not as well-developed at the Operation that Rush is running.
SOMETHING had to give, when the Second Reconstruction came down the Pike. The 1960s Civil Rights Revolution, allied with the integration of the Federal Government and the Armed Forces forced bigots to make more adjustments in 25 years than their parents and grandparents had made in 100.
Most of us made the adjustments. The Rump of America has not.

The people that did it belong in jail, flat out. The issue has nothing to do with Holder. I am sure it did inspire passions but those were already bubbling over. It is no excuse to try and kill anybody but making this political is awful.
Of course, replacing one African-American AG with another isn’t their idea of progress…

Consider the wingnuts plight, they hate Democrats and lots of other stuff so there hate is always revved up and ready to go. Black people may be #1 on their list and they are being led by a black man that is entirely to smart for them to use their best tactics against i.e. racism, fear, hatred, misinformation. Then, their black President has a black man at the top of law enforcement of this multi-cultural nation, that multi-cultural part really fries their bacon as well as the fact that they just can’t hate away the black thing. The unleashed racism and hatred overflow straight to AG Holder and the fix is to replace him with another black person only this one will be a black woman. This is causing racist wingnut red-lining.
Extremely intelligent government by blacks means that dumb and white is the only solution in wingnut world because there hate consumes them and guides them not their limited brains.
After the Democrats introduce the Republicans to enough people of race and the other gender and the Repubs freak out finally wears thin, they might realize that this is for their own good. They can’t ever grow past small-minded bigotry unless they are forced to, that is clear. And a half dumb and hateful America severely brings down the national curve.
