Discussion for article #228213
Hey Gretchen, why don’t you hand in your Fox Fangs and go teach high school yourself if you care so deeply about it.
> Fox News host Gretchen Carlson on Monday followed up on her rant railing against Colorado students protesting changes to the AP U.S. History curriculum and argued that schools favor a liberal point of view
Ah, you mean the truth.
Also regarding her last point, no it doesn’t matter what personal beliefs the teachers hold, as long as they present the truth and allow the students to use critical thinking for themselves.
found this deuce in there:
materials should promote … essentials and benefits of the free enterprise system
So apparently it is not possible nor permissible to discuss any drawbacks of such a system. Certainly sounds “fair and balanced”!
Projection and Professional Victimhood, two pillars of the conservative movement. standing proudly next to the other pillars of the conservative movement: Homophobia, Racism, AMERICAN CHRISTIANITY © ®, Misogyny, Lying, and Ignorance.
Gretchen,
Sometimes a pipe is just a pipe.
Yours,
TGOET
Further proof that Ivy League is now meaningless.
You’re a liar, Gretchen. But that’s OK: we knew it anyway.
Gretchen.
You’re explaining.
Means you’ve already lost the argument.
Musta’ been a huge disparity in disagreement–

Fox News spokescreature: “how I felt kids protesting patriotism was crazy.”
Pretending they were protesting patriotism is crazy.
“She then suggested that its liberals who actually censor school materials. Carlson cited a California Los Angeles Higher Education Research Institute study that found that in 2010 and 2011, about 50 percent of teachers had liberal views while only about 12 percent had conservative views.”
Or, perhaps, conservatives don’t become teachers. Too “intellectual”
Too intellectual. Too low-paid. High probability of being a “public employee”.
Pick one.
The Jefferson County school board proposal would make sure that the AP history materials “promote patriotism” and don’t “encourage or condone civil disorder, social strife or disregard of the law.”
So does this mean the approved Jefferson County AP history curriculum would condemn the Boston Tea Party, the street riot that led to the Boston Massacre, the tarring and feathering of Tories, the confiscation of their property, and the entire American Revolution?
Will it also condemn the Atlanta bus boycott, lunch counter sit-ins, and the march across the Edmund Pettus Bridge?
The people who become teachers tend to believe they should devote their lives in service to others rather than seeking better-paying work. They dislike ignorance, so they think that children should know about the bad as well as the good in US history. They also tend to believe in science, so most of them accept the science on evolution and climate change. In other words, they’re a bunch of knowledge-lovin’ science-believin’ bleeding-heart liberals.
So does that have anything to do with how our kids are taught?" she asked "Or what curriculum might be favored? Or who might encourage protests or not?
No. It has to do with what kind of folks take lower paying jobs, often in crappy situations, to do something that they perceive is for the greater good of all. As opposed to cashing in on what the most cash they could get for their diploma would offer.
My wife is a teacher. She’s got a Master’s. She makes half what I do.
Teachers are more likely to be liberal, therefore it’s liberals who censor.
Trees have green leaves, therefore trees cause global warming.
Woodchucks are pudgy, therefore woodchucks steal oxygen.
Illegal immigrants are from South America, therefore they carry ebola.
Guns are safe, therefore its liberals who kill people.
This episode of Fun With Fox Syllogisms brought to you by the Beef Council. Beef: it is high in saturated fat, therefore vegetables cause heart disease.
So according to the conservatives our history has been one big “lived happily ever after”? One would think that even they would want to teach about the downs so as to appreciate the ups; but then you realize they have repeated this fairy tale so long they actually believe it.
It’s difficult to believe she has a degree from an accredited university, let alone that she won a Miss America title
As Stephen Colbert said, reality has a liberal bias. So that makes it difficult for those on the right to support the teaching of science, critical thinking, and actual history. It does not support their fantasy of what is going on now or has happened in the past.
