Three words: Log Cabin Republicans
Although my understanding is that ancient Rome tolerated a certain level of (what we would call) bisexuality, one thing that was always condemned was any sign of effeminacy in men. Iām sure Fox News is anxious as always to get the history right here.
Three words: Miss Shepard Smith
It must be disconcerting for such arrogant entitled primadonnas to come to the realization that they are in fact as out of touch with reality as their so-called liberal acquaintances have pointed out.
You are pretty funny for a man with MS, you moron.
As I pointed out on another thread, there is a large body of evidence that transsexuals have brain maps which are in conflict with their bodies. Some trans women even report having menstrual cycles (sans menstruation) long before even starting HRT- some as young as 14 and before they even understand what it means to be transsexual.
Many trans people actually do understand what it is like to be a member of their proper gender.
Gender identity is also very separate from sexuality. There are gay trans men and lesbian trans women. Yes, some like Ms Jenner or Chaz Bono donāt have the full surgeries in large part because they are extremely complicated, dangerous and sometimes end in disaster for the patient (including death). Think on that- for many trans people the situation is between having the wrong set of genitals or taking a huge risk and becoming a corpse.
And there is always a period of time between when someone transitions and when the pronouns and proper names get used.
And I am sorry I let my emotions get in the way initially.
Rome, like Greece, pushed the institution of marriage as being between a man and a woman (not all cultures at the time did so, including the Celts), but it was alright to have lovers on the side (though certain sexual acts were considered wrong), and it was not uncommon for many a wealth Roman man to have a eunuch as a lover.
The problem is not so much morality as we women have been taught repeatedly that men are monsters who want nothing to do but rape, mutilate, and hurt women. We are taught that men are dangerous. Add to that, we are taught time and time again that men have āoutiesā and women have āinniesā and there is no in between (despite the fact that there are a LOT of people born with some form of intersexuality).
I know one trans woman who is actually afraid of trans women because of this kind of teaching.
So, no, it isnāt morality so much as fear of men combined with a hardened understanding of gender binary.
Here are my two cents from my perch in San Francisco, where I see a ton of transgender people in all the stages they must go through until they reach their new gender. Itās odd to say the least to see a man in transition who still has whiskers, an Adams apple, wide shoulders, big hands, a deep voice they try to modulate in conversation, etc. The fact that Caitlyn looks so feminine is probably due to her assets and overall access to the best people in the field to guide her into a new self. However, I personally havenāt seen many women around town who are making the transition to a man. But I conclude by saying Iām no expert.
What do you get when you cross Neil Cavuto and Sean Hannity?
A normal hairline
Itās sad that the real Christians - those who still espouse the beliefs you mention - get tarred with the same brush as the crazies and haters. I feel sorry for those who are working to build communities of caring, helpful individuals who strive to love their neighbors, in a world where so many push hatred and intolerance.
It always cracks me up with all the apocalyptic language conservative loons speak and think in. Yes, we are on the cusp of having Visigoths storm the gates.
Get a fucking grip.
Memo to Cavuto: Caitlyn Jenner is more of a woman than you can handle and twice the man you could ever beā¦
"Rome, final days. But thatās fine,ā Cavuto said. As he and his coven of outrage proceeded to throw gasoline on the sparks!

Not sure going hammer and tong after DaveyJones64 is warranted. I doubt Davy is a bigot. Most people have not been knowingly around many transfolks and the language and topic is not nearly as prevalent or mainstream even today as other segments of the LGBT community or the political and social struggles thereof.
Just sayinā
I think she should have gone with āBrucine.ā
Whatās that you say?
Youāre right and I may be unfair.
Just hard to explain to people how much pain stories like this causeā¦and how hard they can be to avoid.
Well, not sure if this is what you are getting at specifically, but some of the most vitriolic language I have personally witnessed outside of of WBC counter-protests were back in the late 90s when the issue of transwomen and inclusion thereof into some lesbian specific support group spaces here in Portland.
Yikes that got ugly.
No worries. Just that I usually find Davey to be an ally on most issues, so a bit of a learning curve is still ahead for all of us, myself included.
Cavuto is allowed his opinion. I frankly think way too much publicity has been given to an intensely private decision. Jenner isnāt the first, nor will he be the last, to make this transition.
Cavuto makes this statement on his show, supported by his management, inappropriately on a business news show. No defense, except he is allowed his opinion.
