Discussion: Fox Host: Confederate Flag ‘Isn’t A Republican Flag,’ It’s Democratic

Discussion for article #237719

Because the Democrats of today are not the Democrats of yesterday. The Republicans of today are the Democrats of the past. I know that you’re paid by FOX News to lie, but maybe, just maybe, you should consult your priest about where you’re heading for all this lying.

Yes Ms. Moronos in the past southern whites were supporters of the Democratic party. But that all changed with Lyndon Johnson doing the right thing and getting congress to pass the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act. The movement of southern whites from the Democratic Party to the GOP was cemented with Richard Nixon’s employment of his “Southern Strategy”.

So today Billy Bob is a supporter of the GOP, but you know that his Grandaddy was a supporter of the Democrats.

A better question might be;‘Why is the party of Lincoln, the Emancipation Proclamation and the Union, now the dominant party of the descendants of the Confederacy?’

Gee, Andrea, maybe it’s because all those Democrats that originally flew that flag all vote Republican now? Little thing called the “Southern Strategy?”

Ask Pat Buchanan. I think he works for your network, and he’s the guy who thought it up.

Well, no…that’s a fact. The Republicans of today are the bigots who left the Democratic party when it got more racially tolerant during the 60’s. I was there.

So if you were asking this question 50 or 100 years ago maybe it would be appropriate to ask the Democrats. But today it’s by and large Republicans who are supporting this flag. As I don’t have a time machine, it’s more relevant to ask Republicans.

I agree. All this talk of time machines is ridiculous.

Because Webster removed racism from the dictionary? (or something)

“You know what baffles the mind?” Tantaros said. “Why is it whenever you’re looking for a paper clip, all you can find are spoons? And how do toasters know when the toast is done?”

Do you really want to talk about time machines?

Seriously…I think the best way to have a time machine is to create a bubble alongside the universe that would allow someone to sort of pick up and move a portal from one point in space-time to another. They could also live in it and because it’s a pocket dimension along side the universe, it could be infinitely big with all sorts of rooms that one could use…

:stuck_out_tongue: Careful…I’ve been a Doctor Who fan since Tom Baker was the Doctor and we got only some of the episodes depending on how PBS wanted to do things.

Poor Andrea. Still stuck in the 1950s and no one will tell her.

Because today it’s only Republicans who want to keep it flying?

Why Are GOPers Being Asked About Democrats’ Confederate Flag?

Those democrats are all dead, and their progeny are today’s republicans. Of course the GOP should be the ones asked.

Dolt.

Ah… because during the civil rights era, the parties had a major realignment over the issue and today’s GOPers were yesteryear’s Democrats.

So any policy or concept supported by the Whig Party is completely irrelevant today, not because they probably are outdated, but because there is no Whig party?
