Discussion: Former 'The Voice' Contestant Dead After Being Shot At Florida Concert

“The Orlando Police Department also confirmed on its official Twitter page…”

21st Century phrase no one predicted in the 20th Century.

But god forbid we make any laws designed to keep guns out of the hands of mentally deranged people and criminals. That would be tyranny.

I’m feeling rather old. I don’t do twitter or FB. I didn’t know about her as i hadn’t watched the Voice. But 22 is waaay too young

Where there are no guns. Think about it.

Rest in peace. Live in peace.

It’s okay. I do both FB and Twitter and I never heard of this talented young woman, such a great loss. Saddened by how easily and often things like this happen in the USA. Why would someone be let into a concert venue with a gun?

How long until the idiot troll brigade shows up to tell us all about how she only died because it was a gun free zone and if only everybody had been armed at the concert none of this would have happened?

Because they believe that shit.

RIP

How much longer are we going to be forced to live with the total irrationality of today’s interpretation of the 2nd Amendment? I’m ready to get rid of it.

Harry Truman would have already seized and nationalized every every aspect of the gun industry.

My daughter and I just saw Christina in concert with Sawyer Fredricks in May. So sad. She was a lovely person.

Fuck the NRA. I sincerely hope that there is a God to judge these “Christians” harshly on the other side for all of the murders that they are enablers of.

Guns are a God-given right, so there must be guns in heaven.

It’s Florida?

No one is immune to gun violence. A cure is possible, no, necessary.

Celebrities may be more likely targets, but any of us could be taken out today by a three year old playing with mommy’s Glock in a stroller. Or name your scenario.

Enough already.

Condolences to the victim’s family and friends.

Was it a gun-free zone?

Republicans will remind us that:

Someone with a gun could have saved her.
Now is not the time to talk about gun control.
It’s too soon to politicize this tragedy.
We must stop the mentally ill from buying guns…

…while we also work around the clock to stop our overreaching, tyrannical government from expanding health care to cover the mentally ill.

Edit, some hours later: The man who shot and killed Grimmie was Kevin James Loibl, 27, of St. Petersburg, Florida, police said.

With a name like “Kevin”, I guess we can rule out the guy being a thug or a terrorist, which would justify taking some sort of Serious Action. Instead, he’s just another Disgruntled White Guy, which means we all can only shrug and say that nothing can be done.

A close friend recently lost her son, who was around that age, in tragic circumstances. I’ve seen a lot of sad things in this big beautiful horrible world, but of those I’ve seen up close and personal, perhaps none have been quite as sad as seeing his young friends in so much pain, trying desperately to be “strong” for one another and for his family, but still breaking down over and over. But in the end, his Mom said it best – there is pain because there is love.

Though, granted, you can see how the people who feel so weak and powerless and fearful that they feel like they need to carry a gun around with them everywhere they go might view keeping guns out of the hands of the deranged as a short, slippery slope . . .

You will be waiting for a long time if you’re waiting for “God” to do it.
