Discussion: Former Miss Universe Speaks Out About Donald Trump's 'Abuse'

Welp, we all knew he’s a misogynist (and racist and and and -ist) asshole, but I think the personal and direct nature of this, and the fact that this is a well-spoken poised Latina woman, is going to further sink the Trump-tanic.

What. An. Asshole. But the fact that he got away with that shit in public for so many decades also indicts our culture, too. We have a lot of work to do.

I’m wondering if he’ll solidify some mens’ support with this crap.

Cue the Trump troglodytes complaining about Hillary ginning this up and making this poor woman live through it all again. Ugh.

I don’t think it’s appropriate to bracket the word ‘abuse’ in the headline. I know people toss that word around too freely these days, but her treatment was clearly abuse.

The more I learn about Trump, the more I get creeped out, and not just by his treatment of women. I knew a man once back in college who would specifically target women who were childlike both in personality and body (even though they were adults), and the way he talked about children was really uncomfortable. The way Trump talks about women just makes me more and more uncomfortable and I really think he wants women to be as child-like as possible.

And if Machado is ‘fat’ then I’m a whale, thank you very much. I wish I weighed that much.

HE wishes he was that fat, proportionally.

The whole thing about this that amazes me …
HE TOOK THE BAIT!
It is actually kind of lame reaching back 20 years but…
HE TOOK THE BAIT!
A rational person would have said “That was 20 years ago , I was wrong and I shouldn’t have said it. I apologize”
End of story
But NOOOOOOOOO
Donald’s childish id just had to strike back bring the story front and center.
Donald is so easy to play
What a fucking idiot.

And best part is that this all was part of an intricate plot to get dumb donnie to self-immolate again. They set him up and he fell for it like a rube in the city for the first time.

except he doesn’t care if it was twenty years ago. He doesn’t ever want to admit he is wrong about anything. That’s the big difference between him and Clinton. She’s admitted that she was wrong about things and moved on. He keeps wanting to bring up the Clinton sex scandals, and those won’t matter a bit any more, but he thinks that they’ll get under Hillary’s skin somehow.

It is hard to believe that discussions about the weight of a former Miss Universe have become part of the discourse of the Republican presidential candidate.

Perhaps we should call him “Mr. Piggy.”

Its ironic that of all the imbecilic things he said in the course of the presidential debate that have immediate and frightening foreign policy and economic consequences, its this salacious story, which has media attention and traction. I hope this young woman has the means to retain a lawyer and security detail because she’s now a major target for Trump’s lawyers and fascist thug supporters.

Even though this really shouldn’t matter, I actually do think it’s relevant to the discussion for everyone to see what Machado looked like at her “massive amount of weight”. This is her at her biggest and when he was parading her around in front of the press fat shaming her:

That was not 60 lb. extra, and not even 40 (as Trump has claimed).
No wonder she was making money for him. She had nice curves.

The dude called a Miss Universe fat and still does. So no woman can be comfortable with her appearance. This is how effed up this bastard is. So The Arizona Republic endorsed Hillary Clinton for President.

Either attractiveness or celebrity will increase media attention to something. Put them together and it’s rocket fuel. Things that affect the future of liberal democracy, or even our survival as a species? Not so much. But in this instance it’s bad for Trump so yay.

She said she’d gained 12 pounds, which makes all the sense in the world. It’s like anyone who competes in any sort of fitness competition. They cut weight for the competition, often going to extreme measures to do so and then adjust back to normal eating habits after its over. Whether it’s body builders, beauty pageant competitors, or UFC fighters, they all do the same things to make weight.

He is a serial exaggerator – everything is HUUGGE.

It goes beyond that.

To me, Machado, then and now, is gorgeous and very pleasantly curvy, but then again, I can talk to an adult woman without looking like a petulant child. Trump hates women who have any kind of strength. He trash talks his own daughters, and when he has been confronted by a strong woman, he ends up becoming a blubbering mass. Right now, he must be in hell, and things are just going to get worse for him.

Trump infantalizes women. The only women he likes cannot stand up to him. Ivanka likely learned a long time ago how to talk to him in such a way as to prevent him from blowing up at her, but you look at the pattern of put-downs, the fat shaming, the preference for women who are as skinny as possible, and the tendency towards marrying women who have a less-than-optimal command of the English Language, and what you see is a man who can’t stand a woman who can stand up to him.

This leaves the question- how is he going to talk to Angela Merkel or Theresa May?

I hope that all made sense.

If this is how he behaved with a teenager who gained 12 pounds after a beauty contest, just imagine how he treated his wives when they were pregnant with his children?
