I never forgave Miller for his 2004 speech at the Republican National Convention.
“Former Georgia Senator, Governor Zell Miller Dies At 86.”
Tragically succumbed to injuries sustained in that duel with Chris Matthews.
Spittle flecks at twenty paces.
I bet Chris Matthews is breathing a lot easier today.
Yeah, well, fuck Zell Miller. He was dead to me years ago.
…
Can’t think of anything nice to say, so…
Pity. Sad little cracker.
Let’s face it, Miller never forgave the Democratic Party for passing the civil rights act and being the party that effectively ended Jim Crow after sustaining it for so long. His repudiation of the confederate flag was a business decision, nothing more. He was an old school Dixiecrat to the end.
Good riddance of the Southern Joe Lieberman. May his soul wander in purgatory. My thoughts and prayers of course to the folks around this piece of work.
My thoughts and prayers are with the other inhabitants of hell.
His tilt toward the GOP became even more pronounced after Sept. 11, 2001. He told the AP in a 2004 interview: “That changed everything. It changed everything with this world, everything with the nation, everything with me, and it should change everything with every thinking American.”
I’d be interested to know if, knowing what he does now, does ZigZag still believe the same as he did?
As for his death, this is hard for me. The last memory I have of him was at the RNC standing on stage. It’s hard for me to forget that.
I feel like I should say something nice since he’s gone and all but I’m at a loss for those words right now.
In October of 2000, blaming Bill Clinton for the 1st World Trade Center terrorist attack happening less than 30 days after Clinton took office, Jeb Bush expressed concern that if elected Al Gore would cause another such attack and stated that “no one knows better than me that my big brother will keep America safe.”
That is it is far worse than just his speech in 2004. Bush was president for 9 months when 911 happened yet Zell Miller blamed democrats.
Rot in hell you racist turncoat.
That’s still in my top five most hilarious moments in politics.
Zellmer Fudd’s life arc explains wtf happened to white people in this country. This is a guy who was a new Dem, a centrist Dem who supported Bill Clinton and then turned into a raging pro-Bush war monger and apologist for the WWC concerns about social change.
I know there was a good Zell Miller but there was also a bad one.
I’ll never forget the part where he listed various weapons systems where Kerry had cast a vote that could be Roved into a claim of opposition to the system and said of the only presidential candidate who had actually seen combat, voice dripping with Alabama redneck contempt:
This is the man who wants to be the Commander in Chief of our U.S. Armed Forces?
U.S. forces armed with what? Spitballs?
Really drew it out. “Urrrrmed whiith whut? Spyitbuhls!”
And at that point, I screamed at the TV and shut it down.
My sympathies to any grieving relatives. But as far as I’m concerned, he’s just another addition to the “Graves I Intend to Piss On Before I Die” list.
“Former U.S. Sen. Zell Miller, a lifelong Democrat”
Stop right there.
His speech at the GOP convention wasn’t just that of a guy whose “party had left him”, but that of a complete asshole. He was angry, he was spiteful, and he never looked more like Emperor Palpatine than on that day. RIP and all due respects, but what a dick.
Praise jesus
