This really isn’t a surprise. Its been the rumor pretty much since he was dumped/quit. The man has to pay bills and feed that baby whale in his belly somehow, and being a professional staffer, this is what he does. He gets a paying gig with the Trump campaign right after Iowa.
Carson’s campaign is dead in the water. I read an interesting piece concerning Bennett, Williams and the implosion going on in politico yesterday. Bennett said he can trace the shutdown of funding precisely to the day that the NYT dropped the bombshell that Williams gave them about his foreign policy adviser. He said it was like hitting a brick wall, everything just dried up.
But the real clincher was the Jordan trip, which was supposed to be a secret. Carson, in conjunction with Williams, gave an interview to the NYT without telling Bennett or anyone else on the staff. And then acted mystified when the released it. That was pretty much the end for Bennett, according to the interview.

All of these “campaign advisers” are simply hired guns.
They go to whomever will pay them, and not necessarily in $$$.
This guy is making lots of important “networking” connections this way and will definitely end up on the campaign payroll if Trump gets the nomination. If not, it’s an investment in the future.
