Discussion: Foreign Affairs Chair Ed Royce To Retire, Opening Up Key Swing Seat

Exactly. Every one of the boot lickers he has dragged out to defend him will pay a high price in the future. No one is going to want to be associated with these treasonous scum bags.

Still my favorite billboard of 2017.

I hope it stays up for the entirety of 2018. Unless, of course, Devin is frog-marched out in handcuffs before it over.

Then again, they could simply replace Putin’s face with Mueller’s.

Quisling is like so yesterday. Rohrabacher can be the 21st century version.

OT: This is a head scratcher and I wonder if she will withdraw her name?

Also, they have absolutely NOTHING to run on. Nothing.

It’s always been something of a conceit that’s been taken for granted (especially in media circles) that on issue after issue, the left & right were merely arguing about methodology and that the “solution” was somewhere to be found in the middle.

Take health care – the assumption is that “both sides” want to take care of the sick and less fortunate among us…it’s just that Republicans believe that the market will take of things and Democrats believe it’s a government function. That canard has been laid bare this year. The GOP has no interest whatsoever in the welfare of ordinary people – especially poor, people of color, etc.

Paul Ryan isn’t interested in “reforming” Social Security & Medicare/Medicaid – he (and his ilk in the “Freedom” Caucus) want to eliminate any semblance of our social compact and safety net. Period.

I think that this realization is starting to dawn on more people. I hope so.

And I also hope that after a Blue Tsunami hits, Democrats won’t forget what Republicans have done & tried to do when they come back into power… that they don’t revert into the nonsensical deference to Republican wishes in the name of “comity”.

Buh-bye!

Brownback was renominated as well… Senate rules had all 2017 appointments expired if they weren’t confirmed by the EOY.

Good news. Hopefully a united Democratic base will nominate the strongest Democrat for that district out of the primary.

Royce was utterly screwed in any case. The incumbent goodwill factor gets washed away by the Blue Wave in a blue-leaning district. This rightwing asshole voted for Trump 96% of the time. Out with the trash.

Sing it. Amen!

I had an interesting discussion today with a friend. Trump supporter. ACA, Medicaid and CHIP just covered him and family at a very low premium. As I said, good, let us hope they do not pull it out from under you. He had to concede that is worrisome.

I re-iterated once again, we are not dealing with politics. I will be happy to argue the pro and con of a liberal candidate versus a conservative one. I refuse to argue the politics of people trying to overthrow this Union.

OT, but in case anyone was wondering how rampant, blatant, outlandish, in-your-face white nationalism at the highest levels of our government and political discourse are helping to erode progress and normalize “oopsy” moments that really, in all likelihood, were absolutely not “oopsy” moments…

Yes, you read that right…they then stuck the little white kid in the sweatshirt naming him the “expert” jungle guy…

This is a thing I worry about as well. Democrats don’t seek comity because they’re weak, they do it because they believe in government and believe that members of government should work together to find solutions for the people. I get that. When you want to prove something works and works for the good, you try hard to do everything to make it work as it was designed to. But those days are over. They’ve proven for eight years now that they have zero interest in doing anything more than getting the rich richer and blowing it all up. There’s no reasoning with them. There are no sane Republicans. All that’s left is for Democrats to go it alone, hope the country purges the Republican Party and that someday Republicans will become a party interested in governing again. Until then, there’s no need to reach out.

"…will formally renominate the Kansas Republican late Monday to become ambassador-at-large for international religious freedom,…" (KS City Star today)

WTF is THAT? and what would the work entail (if any)? Wondering whether Kansas made this one up in order to get rid of him…

All I ever needed to know about Paul Ryan is that Ayn Rand is required reading for his staff.
