Can’t count the money fast enough.
another hack attack?
it’s just a matter of time before critical infrastructure is attacked and shut down… and then we are really fucked.
Since the recent merger w/US Airways, I think things have gone a little downhill — I have NEVER had a positive experience on US Air — American has always seemed more pleasant — I go out of my way to avoid this company now —
Services like banks, investment firms, airlines, public transit systems and computer systems and fiber optic cable and satellite services should have TRIPLE BACKUP plans in place and ready-to-go in just 2-5 minutes 24/7/365. They have the money to afford these hangups, and should plan and act accordingly.
I can understand one or two airports losing power for an hour or two, or having radar interrupted by something like storm damages, but an international airline the size of American Airlines can well afford to have triple backup plans in place for only momentary delays around the nation and the world. This is inexcusable.
USAir has a long tradition of providing no info about delays or just lying. My negative experiences with American (going back many, many years and different cities, is their less than helpful gate and check-in agents.I’d imagine they’ve achieved “synergy”.
My first reaction to this story was, “American Airlines flights all being delayed by an hour? That would be an improvement, wouldn’t it?”
These computers will never catch on, I tellya…
No this is protecting the CEO/Chairman’s $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
When was that merger? I flew US Airways to Virginia in June 2014 and January this year and it was great.
Why would you choose to run an article for which it looks like the only “hard” information you have is a Tweet?
Nothing in your account of the American grounding explains why problems with their computers, unless it was a reservation-passenger list issue, would otherwise affect the planes from flying. Did the TSA or FAA ask request that they be vague?
I believe something like this is more likely to happen than a city being contaminated with a “dirty bomb.” We’re long past the time where all of our electrical grid, for example, should be regionalized. We’re long past the time when the entire federal government isn’t all using the same computer hardware and software. I rather doubt the military “makes do” with dated crap but if anyone in Congress were to propose a complete overhaul for the federal government, the Rethugs would say the money doesn’t exist, and then blame a breach or failure on the head of whatever department was compromised, as if this person had the power to authorize budget expenditures to fix the problems.

Hopefully, they get it all worked out. I like to fly into regional airports whenever possible and US Airways is often the best carrier flying in and out of them.
