You raise a good point right out of Cultural Anthro 101: These beliefs – rather, defenses – you mention are so baked into our culture we may never get rid of them. We chip away at them, but there’s a segment of the population who have a need to perpetuate them.
I had a course years ago: The sociology of social change. Pretty dry stuff, but one thing I learned is that change can happen relatively quickly when tipping points are reached. We may have hit some tipping point here and women are leading the way as they did with suffrage, a mere 4 (?) generations ago. In our US politics it looks like it might inure to the benefit of the Dems, maybe save what’s left of the New Deal, maybe improve it with things like Medicare for all. Who knows?
I may be on the other side of the grass by then, , but I have kids and grandkids as do fellow TPM groupies.
I hope women will save some of their passion for climate issues, cuz the guys ain’t doing shit. .
