Martinâs roommate told police the shooting was an accident
Pointing a gun at someoneâs head and shooting them dead is not an accident.
Always treat a gun like itâs loaded.
Oh, and running away doesnât help.
I wish to hell someone could explain why Florida always seems to be the epicenter of armed idiocy. At this point Iâm actually startled when I come across a shooting like this that happens in some other state.
CaN"T owN a gUN? IS this AMerica or the SOviet UNIon? HitLER NAZi cOMMUnists Want TO abolisH our 2nd AMEndment RIghts!!!1!!!one!!11!1!!!
This is the NRAâs paradise of freedom. Donât think of it as a ânegligent homicide caused by a firearmâ; itâs a freedom headache.
So, the gun was only âmostly unloadedâ instead of âcompletely unloadedâ?
Rule #1:
#Every gun is a loaded gun
Rule #2:
#If gun is unloaded, refer to rule #1
If only the woman had an equally unloaded gun.
Just for shits and giggles, I decided to look these up to compare sentencing potentialâŚand I found the following info (take with grain of salt in that Iâm not a FL attorney and canât verfiy):
"It can be charged as an Aggravated Assault under Florida Statute 784.021(1)(a) if the assault was made with a deadly weapon. This is a third degree felony which carries a maximum sentence of five (5) years in prison and up to a $5000 fine. " (3 year minimum if it was a gun)
Possession of marjuana - scaled sentencing. To reach the tier where you get the same sentence as aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (5 years, $5000), you need only possess 20g of weed (8g less than an ounce and probably about a half a sammich baggy in volume).
So, just to make clear: assaulting someone with a deadly weapon is the same as possessing enough weed to last maybe a couple weeks for a moderate potsmoker. The fail is strong with this society.
Indeed. If youâre pulling the trigger, you intend to kill whatever youâre pointing at.
Only a complete idiot would deliberately aim a gun at someone this way.
All guns should be considered loaded and dangerous.
Now there are two small children without a mother because this son-of-a-bitch has a tiny penis.
Iâm so happy to see this patriot exercising his Second Amendment rights. I trust the State of Florida will pursue their right to lock this sumbitch up and throw away the key. What a moron! Lesson #1: Never, EVER point a gun at another person unless you are prepared to use it. If only there were some sort of national organization which would actively support gun education and safety. Why, we might even call is the National Rifle Association. Sadly, that organization has been taken over by corporate drones who only represent their masters; the gun manufacturers. I do despair for sane gun legislation in this country. 2016 can not come fast enough for me.
Yea she still wouldnât be alive but would have died safer!
Maybe the killing was an accident, but the ex-felon possessing a firearm and pulling the trigger was not an accident.
Tell me again why, in America, I should fear Ebola more than idiots with guns??
That says volumes about Floridaâs legal system. My boycott of that state continues.
Well someone in jail will find out just how small he is.
They wonât be able to see it when heâs bent over the end of a bunk.
NRA rule #13: Itâs too early to discuss this tragedy.
Letâs talk some more about how careful people are when packing guns and how an armed society is a police society.
Leaders in the Ranking of States on TPM & Raw Story with the most Careless Firearm
Incidents
Florida - 18
Texas - 14
Pennsylvania - 11
New York/South Carolina (tie) - 7
Arizona/California/Indiana/Georgia/Tennessee (tie) - 6
Colorado/Ohio/ (tied) - 5
Criminals donât obey the law, and neither do ex-felons apparently. Therefore we should abolish all laws concerning felons and firearms.
