Baby steps but progress none the less.
"“It’s an example to the entire country that government can and has, moved fast.”
No, governor, it is not. The time for fast action was years ago.
"the group’s [NRA] powerful lobbyist called the bill “a display of bullying and coercion”
That’s rich coming from you guys.
Go collect some more donations from Russia or something.
Frankly, I thought Scott would be a coward and kowtow to the NRA. Instead, he signed the bill. It’s a good start. Thank you!
Thank you, Skeletor Scott…
You’ve apparently experienced a brief glimpse of humanity and/or sanity, don’t be scared.
Naw, just getting ready to run for senator
That’s what I was thinking … but at least it tells me which way he and his campaign team thinks the political wind is blowing.
“It’s an example to the entire country that government can and has, moved fast…"
“…to block an assault rifle ban.”
This is going to be the model response to this shooting. Small steps, but genuinely worthwhile.
Sometimes even the overseer of the largest Medicare fraud in the nation’s history can be forced into doing the right thing, especially when he’s planning a run for the US Senate. Imagine that?
Scott told the students: “You helped change our state. You made a difference. You should be proud.”
This sounds like a sign-off. He can claim the government did something, and move on. Expect no more progress on the issue from this quarter.
Didn’t expect that much out of the gov.
It’s a start in the right direction.
We will see when the line item veto pen is used.
Scotts capable of buckling under pressure or being bought off.
He doesn’t move unless it benefits him over anybody.
Sound familiar???
The past tense is noted. Just a little hint. But I think they’ll keep going anyway.
Not signing this bill would guarantee a loss against Nelson this fall.
Actual question (not snark or shade or whatever): What do my fellow TPMers think about the part where it seeks to arm some teachers?
It is a baby step but at least it is something. The NRA has to be scared to death at this point. Those students are not going to go away or shut up. This is a beginning not the ending Scott obviously wants it to be. The NRA knows that once that baby step is taken it is down hill for them.
As Trevor Noah pointed out last night, the next step is to apply the training requirements for the armed teachers to the entirety of the gun-owning population. It seems, strike that, it is crazy to think that only teachers packing heat in the classroom should be well trained and undergo psych evaluations to carry their weapons. Those comments are at 10:00.
Is anyone surprised by this? Send all the NRA assholes back to the Russian Motherland, where they’d be right at home…
I can’t believe I’d be supporting that ********** Pam Bondi defending this law…
