White supremacy and ties to Russia aren’t “red flags” for any Trump regime vetting. They’re pluses.
The vetting, which was outsourced to RNC staffers
Buried the lede.
I disagree, it is not that expensive nor is it hard to produce a brochure, I used an MS Word template. The largest expense I had was actually the postage necessary to mail that brochure to every household in the district. I did not care if they had children, republican or democrat, old or young, my goal was to get it to every home. I did that twice and then made calls on every organization I could think of asking if they held any voting functions. I hit churches/temples on Saturdays and Sundays. I even spent a couple of evenings at scout meetings talking with parents. I did anything. What was my cost other than postage, wear/tear/gas for the auto, ink/paper for my printer, and TIME. Yes, I was only running for a school board position but it can be done and if you are willing to put in the effort it is not all that expensive. The thing for me was not important to win but to present my ideas and get people talking and thinking. Same should be with political races, winning is not the only goal. For me, it seemed that I hit a spot that resonated with enough to pull off the win.
Sounds like a contemporary Team of Rivals, right? I’ll bet Doris Kearns Goodwin already has her research staff at work on the preliminaries of this epic topic. (Actually, I doubt it.)
Which is a pretty darned big cost. If you’ve got a full-time job and a family, at least one of those needs to go to mount a significant campaign, often both.
For an individual looking at a daunting district, why bother going through all of that if the conclusion is already right in your face and you’re not going to win?
Now, on a national basis, if we were to recruit and fund eligible people for those races to the extent possible and legal so that they didn’t have to worry about paying bills while campaigning, then, sure, you could probably get takers for losing propositions.
No, his legacy is indelibly written, chipped in the hot stone walls of hell. He’ll read it one day in person.
“The Disgruntled, Establishment, D.C. Swamp Creature: The Swamp Strikes Back”
Soon at a theater near you.
It’s just in general.
It’s trump and his continual overbearing bullshit. His lies, crappy leadership, his racism. All of it
A North Korean propaganda officer.
I’m beginning to wonder if Trump didn’t take these ‘red flags’ as a plus…a way to control the people that he ‘hired’. No matter how ridiculous, if Donnie said it, then they would support it. We’ve seen it time after time and ‘wondered’ why someone would ruin their reputation for Trump…no maybe we know. Of course, the WH response is ‘telling’ as usual. Absolutely no class while attacking ANOTHER American company.
Donnie’s staff and acolytes have learned what makes their master happy and how to speak in his voice. Which is, as we know, the voice of a 5 year old.
“If I can do it, anyone can, especially as I speak as I see it and am far from being diplomatic.”
good job. under difficult circumstances you chose to walk the walk, and people clearly noticed. amazing what good faith efforts can accomplish. admirable.
“…telling Axios that “no disgruntled, establishment, D.C. swamp creature’s cowardly leaks can change” his legacy.”
Don’t worry nobody is going to forget Donnie’s legacy esp. since his Presidential Library will be located in Moscow.
When the breadth of evil associated with Trump’s ENTIRE crew is revealed, It will be a Story of The Ages.
The evil is so broad and well-crafted*** that a nincompoop like Trump has a reasonable chance of winning a normal American election.
100% certainty of winning a foreign one.
*** Taking advantage of nearly every American weakness, procedural particularity, inter-group conflict, national character uniqueness and technological “advantage” (which they USE for THEIR ADVANTAGE)
If. If it is revealed. A lot of parties have a vested interest in the truth staying hidden. Much like the WMD’s this will be a topic the media and both political parties will politely avoid.
"Donnie’s staff and acolytes have learned what makes their master happy "
yeah. those orange crayons are way cool.
“If. If it is revealed. A lot of parties have a vested interest in the truth staying hidden. Much like the WMD’s this will be a topic the media and both political parties will politely avoid.”
not a chance in hell of keeping it under wraps. when not if.
Sounds rather like a list of check-boxes at the end of the form:
For extra credit (check as many as appropriate): ☐ White supremacist ☐ Ties with Russia ☐ Restraining order for domestic violence ☐ Conviction of cruelty to animals ☐ Former Navy SEAL ☐ Forced to resign in disgrace ☐ Other (please specify; use additional sheets if necessary): ________________________________________________ ________________________________________________
I must admit this is a helluva scoop by Axios. Haberman and others at the Times must be pissed that all their wonderful access-based ass kissing didn’t deliver.
I guess warning flags like “stalky/rapey”, “shit for brains”, “Hitler shrine in bathroom”, and “fantasizes about sex with Putin” just doesn’t set off alarm bells like they used to.
