Now when is she going to nail him for making locations that store hazardous/explosive chemicals (such as in West, TX) SECRET and not covered under FOIA requests…think about that when you send your kid to school next to factory…you dont have any right in TX now to know if it might blow up!
Would Wendy be a viable candidate in the future for Congress, considering the demography of the district she lives in? Could she beat Cruz in a statewide race for the Senate when his term is up?
You’d think they’d check with the victim before putting this out there. Might be opening up old wounds.
Aaaah…
Ok, that’s different. At first I thought it might be because he was doing his job as an advocate and that I would have had a problem with.
That’s a start? If this is what she is spending her money on, then that isn’t a start. It is a sign that it is finished.
Howzabout we focus on this race? Frankly, Abbott is more beatable than Carnival Cruz. He is an angry, bitter man with the charisma of a lanced boil, and his direct involvement in closing down abortion clinics and making chemical bombs-posing-as-work sites secret makes him very, very vulnerable.
How so?
It’s a good blow to the body plus it moved me to use a new avenue to donate more to her. And I have a few other ways left of sending money in support.
I’m not the only one either.
Next we’ll see a little something about his love affair with unregulated chemical plants.
Davis is polling about 8 points behind Abbott. Abbott has a lot of negatives that can be talked about including his hypocrisy of tort reform AFTER he received millions when a tree branch fell on him and caused the loss of use of his legs.
He has also sued the Feds and lost any number of times wasting millions of tax dollars just to be able to appeal to the base and show he is 'fighting for Texas." All to burnish his political credentials with the right wing here in Texas using tax dollars.
Davis is going to have a tough battle and need lots of money to knock 8 points down to the margin of error and then get out the vote. Abbott is well funded and wealthy and his first Ad this week was his Hispanic mother-in-law praising what a ‘good boy’ he is. Obviously trying to build support with Hispanics.
Expect more tough Ads from Davis as they do generate donations. There is a chance for a win, and depending on how the court goes on the abortion restrictions challenge this next week, Davis could gain some free headlines in her favor.
This may be a real race to watch!
I’m a liberal Dem, but I think this ad will have absolutely zero positive effect for Davis and may even backfire. Most viewers in Texas will not think that the company should be held liable for the rape by the salesman. Indeed, I could see Abbott (if he even deemed to respond) replying with this: “Wendy Davis is just another liberal backed by greedy tort lawyers who want to sue everyone. As your governor, Abbott will fight to end frivolous lawsuits that hurt business and cost jobs.” This message will resonate more with TX voters, who are very pro-defendant in tort cases.
I remember that. Apparently, if you live in Texas, it’s up to YOU to walk up to a chemical plant, knock on their door, and politely ask them “Hey, are you keeping any dangerous chemicals in here that could affect the health of my kids?”, and you have no choice but to take whatever they tell you as their answer.
Go, Wendy, go!
If you don’t realize campaigns that are in desperation mode are the ones to start the “my opponent supports rapist”, then there is really no point.
It’s not desperation.
It’s Tejas.
She is down by 8%, now liberals are using Rasmussen as a credible poll? According to the most recent CBS/NYTIMES, PPP and UT she is down between 12-17%, which is why she is throwing the Hail Mary of “My opponent supports rape and rapist”, because it is all she has left. In the last election which is more democratic ID then mid-terms, the GOP candidates both won by at 15% and so will Abbott.
I think its smarter actually to hold your fire until you get closer to the election when people are paying attention. If she ran this 6 months ago it wouldn’t have much impact because people would have forgotten and staring now gives you more bang for your buck. Think of all the negative ads run in the last week of a campaign ( many not true) and how effective they are.
She was done when she won the nomination. This is a State that voted for Bush twice, Perry three times and Ted Cruz, they are not going to have a Governor Wendy Davis.
