Discussion: Fiorina: Border Walls Aren't 'Particularly Effective'

Well the Maginot Line wasn’t actually a wall per se.

Jeeesus Christ. Really? Carly Fiorina, of all fucking people, dares to talk about about ineffective bureaucracies spending vast sums of money that don’t seem to translate into results or solve the problems they’re supposed to solve? Really? Really? In what universe is that not a short hand description of what she did to HP? Remember HP? That thing she did that she claims qualifies her to be president? The once great company that she turned into the ratfuck it is today before they finally paid her a small fortune to just GTFA before her contract was up?

one of the mysteries of an ineffective bureaucracy

For someone that laid off tens of thousands of people and then walked away with tens of millions of dollars after being fired, that’s pretty rich mighty white a load of bullshit.

Julie Andrews’’ dad had a big hit with a song about the French wall in the 1930s. Maybe Dame Julie can write a little ditty on our follies lol

Spending $19 billion to merge with Compaq is not particularly effective either.

Um, Carly, walls ARE “particularly effective” at getting the ignorant GOP base ginned up. That’s sort of what matters at this point.

Hey, weren’t we just “hanging our wash on the Siegfried Line”? There’s your answer.

Well, there goes her place in the next debate…

Approval rating status: Falling.

Duh! It doesn’t take a genius to know that walls will not work. If stopping illegal immigration is their goal they need to address why they are coming if they want it to stop. Illegal immigrants don’t just walk across the border. They come by foot, rail, boat and plane. Plus people overstaying their visas.
The way I see it illegal immigrants come for four main reasons:

  1. birthright citizenship for children born after they get here.
  2. employment.
  3. Chain immigration
  4. To meet up with family members & friends already here.
This country will never stop illegal immigration until we do something about the reasons they come.

Right now the old “in search of a better life”, the classic and long-accepted mantra of US immigration, has been replaced by loaded new terminology. The BBC for example, noted the shift since the flood of people into Europe increased recently. http://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-34061097

The right in particular, seems fond of overbroad or vague terms.

And Martha’s Vineyard will secede.
