An Apple lawyer told reporters earlier this month that the company still
believes the iPhone to be one of the most secure products on the market
and expressed confidence that the vulnerability that was discovered
would have a “short shelf life.”
Which is lawyer speak for “If you’re doing something illegal, hide the evidence on an Apple iPhone where the feds will never get it.”
So are Apple and the so-called “privacy advocates” offering to reimburse the government the million they paid for the exploit? Are they offering a solution to the problem of executing a lawful court order? Of course not. It’s all about profit for Apple and enabling terrorists and criminals.
