There are a lot of jokes that can be made about this, but I’m going to thank the FBI for continuing to protect this nation while being short-staffed and/or unpaid due to Trump’s shutdown and despite his almost daily harangue of them, their leaders and their professionalism.

Progressives got custody of patriotism and support for LE in the divorce caused by the last presidential election.

True enough, but, this smells a lot like some of the other ‘plots’ which the FBI has uncovered,where the plotter(s), without otherwise being led by the hand, couldn’t find the men’s room in their local Walmart. Rootless dopes who make a lot of noise because they’re not smart enough to keep quiet. And that goes for Van Man with his “IED’s” last Fall, too. Although he did cause a lot of hyperventilating.

The FBI is like the arsonist who sets a building on fire, quickly calls the fire department, and then expects to be rewarded for saving the building. After that he creates a massive ad campaign to warn about the dangers of arson and how we should all be afraid, be very afraid!

How much money could have been saved if they had simply used the money they spent on this charade to send this moron to trade school? His first crime was being an ignorant fuck. His second crime was trusting the FBI criminals who radicalized him

Outside of the powerless (in the US) far left, progressives have always been in favor of law enforcement. Progressives have usually pushed for more introspection of law enforcement practices in order to improve law enforcement, and help law enforcement focus on real issues, like people shooting and killing each other, rather than largely harmless issues, like a person smoking a joint.

Better law enforcement that respects the rights of all people, and identifies systemic problems that lead to resources being spent based on the wealth or color of a community, rather than based on where crime is actually being committed doesn’t only make law enforcement better, it also makes it safer for law enforcement.

Conservatives solution to improving law enforcement has been more profiling, and more brutality, which only leads to communities being more antagonistic against LEOs, leading to the environment being even more unsafe for them. Progressive solutions have always focused on more understanding, and partnership building with communities, which not only leads to reduced crime, but leads to communities supporting law enforcers and making notnjust the community safer, but also makes the job safer.

A better description of what happened: FBI agents, still unpaid because of trump’s shutdown, saved trump’s life by stopping an American-born terrorist.

Well, I think if you approached the White House with a rocket launcher you’d go down with bullets in your head and chest before you took five steps from your car. But it’s best that people like this are taken off the street and I do feel grateful every time one of these things gets taken care of long before it gets dangerous.

Unfortunately, even though these guys were obviously not the sharpest tools in the shed, the NRA has made certain they can get as many semi-automatic weapons, ammunition and bump stocks they want to commit mass murder.

We do need to make certain entrapment didn’t take place, but thanks to the NRA we can no longer assume that stupid = harmless.

I may be wrong about this, but it seems as though the pubilcized foiled plots tend to have veered close to entrapment, and of hapless fools, usually
 There have been hints from time to time of numerous other plots averted, with few details. This is either smoke up our collective butts, or honest necessity to conceal methods, etc. We probably won’t ever know, but these things make me uneasy. Still strikes me that the serious threats are the home-grown nutters with guns (Roof, Paddock, Bowers, et al ad nauseum), and of course, Timothy McVeigh, Is there a common thread amongst this lot? Hmmmm, let me think

@greylady Yep!

unless you got a cruise missile from somewhere, like a Russian sub loitering near by

I’d hesitate to generalize just from my own impressions. A hapless fool jihadi will kill you just as dead as a sensible, reasonable one who goes into jihad in a clear-eyed way. :smile: A person who starts talking about acquiring weapons and doing this and that should be treated as a threat. I know the feeling of pity for him; the guy’s an idiot. But he’s too dangerous of an idiot to be on the street. Those things can coexist, ask anyone in the business. As for the domestic guys, they get busted too. The common thread among your lot is not that they were fĂȘted as heroes or anything.
