Discussion: FBI: Ex-Reservist Stole 16 Army Guns While Out On Bail On Child Rape Charge

Discussion for article #243053

My question is, how the hell could he break into the Massachusetts armory so easily? He was caught because of GPS bracelet, that he cut himself, and surveillance video from nearby stores? Hell of a security system you have there! I guess it’s no a big deal, the building only houses military weaponry.

It’s a good thing we’re keeping Syrian refugees out, they could acquire guns and… Oh never mind.

…The circumstances of that case were not immediately available.

…It could not immediately be determined if he has a lawyer…

Short for, “just not into that that diligent reporter stuff anymore.”

" Thy weren’t sure of a motive.
What the hell I’ll tell you the motive. He was going to sell them for cash at a gun show at some fair ground. Thats what he was going to do.

But was he Syrian?

No self-respecting Syrian refugee would screw up a heist this badly.

But you left out the key fact - the armory was under renovation at the time of the theft, and presumably the alarms were off.

This guy is an idiot. Doing this while wearing a monitoring bracelet? What a moron…

But at least no 5-year-old Syrian Girl will get into the country.
I feel so much safer.

Out on bail for child rape!!! Why?

I don’t understand. This story involved guns, so how could there be any wrongdoing?

How many other reservists are there walking around with monitor bracelets? I know it sounds like “profiling”, but maybe those in charge might want to look into that. Just sayin’.

So - why was this guy able to break in, then work the place for 6 hours - all while wearing a monitoring device? Glad they caught him, but the response seems a little slow.

Pretty much every Reservist or former Reservist who ever commented on this story realized you don’t just waltz in to the arms room. All the arms rooms I’ve seen were walk-in vaults and surrounded by concrete walls and ceilings. This guy was an EX-Reservist. He was familiar with the center and had been there only three days earlier to get some paperwork. Still, how did he get at the top of the vault at all? Was the vault out in the open, say to be moved?

Cash to pay his lawyer.

The title of this story on the first page is so unclear. I had to click on the story to realize they left the word “WHILE”.

Yeah, if he’d been there recently, he was probably aware of upcoming renovations and concomittant alarm disruption.
