Brave man who can speak truth to power while dealing with the loss of a child less than a week ago.
Same for Richard Martinez whose son was gunned down by that kid who went on a murder rampage in California last year. He was immediately in the news and is still working to get some legislation passed. At some point, there will be saturation and something will get done. Itâs unfortunate that it will take so long that others will needlessly die.
How about a pledge to never vote for any politician with a high NRA ranking?
I applaud his efforts to honor his daughter by trying to prevent the murder of old peopleâs daughters and sons. Only, weâre talking about Virginia, a state where the gun lobby is even more powerful than in some other parts of this country.
James Bakerâs taking a bullet intended for St. Ronnie did not deter the gun lobby. The slaughter of little children at Sandy Hook did not deter the gun lobby. And, alas, on-camera slaughter in Virginia will not deter the gun lobby and cowering politicians.
Until we-the-sensible-people of America are more vocal against guns and bloodshed, nothing will happen. Nothing except more bloodshed and grief and shame.
That this is even necessary shames Americans.
Money talks, gun violence stalks.
Good luck to him, I imagine the NRA will begin to attack him now.
NRA considers innocents killed by gun violenceâŚcollateral , but acceptable, damage.
The âColdDeadHandersâ will never listen to reason.
Maybe this will be the one who gets keys the lock. Labor and persevere!
Brady, not Baker.
The woman who was being interviewed, Vicki Gardner, was shot in the back and has had to have a kidney removed and part of her colon and is facing more surgeries. Three dead, one seriously injured and there is no answer to âWhy?â
The pols he named will probably ignore his pleas, but the NRA will enlist its surrogates on the right to pile on the grieving father. Itâs going to get ugly.
With all due respect for his loss, Mr. Parker should know that the assassin passed the background checks required to buy a gun. We need to update our laws to restrain known violent and unstable individuals from obtaining guns by flagging them to the NICS system, not keep ranting at the NRA.
The NRA is supported by millions of Americans gun owners and the support is ever increasing. Lets get to the bottom of the problem without hysteric nonsense that wonât change a thing.
I feel sorry for this guy, but hasnât he been paying attention at ALL?
The Republican Congressmen will get easily reelected, and he will go away and be forgotten. Thatâs how it works around here.
Actually the NRA has (perhaps) 4.5 million members. About 1.5% of the population of the US. Itâs basically the lobbying arm of gun manufacturers these days.
Iâm glad to see that you didnât waste your time trying to improve your mind during your enforced absence. It is precisely the NRA that refuses to allow legislation that requires state LEOs to report this information to the federal government. In fact, the NRA lobbies strongly against any legislation that restricts gun ownership in any way.
I assume you can substantiate that assertion with facts.
Easily - google âNRA opposition to gun statistics collectionâ and youâll get a lot of articles about NRAâs campaign to prevent collection of statistics on gun use. Business Insider wrote an article about it. So did ABC News and a number of others.
Anyone can visit the FBI and CDC websites and see plenty of statistics on guns. Just try it.
