Discussion for article #234000

Good luck with that! I hope after you lose, you have to pay all court costs.

This will be good: Old Darren will have to plead the Fifth because double jeopardy is NOT attached despite RWAC fantasies to the contrary.

This New Centurion Protector of the Public has been refusing to testilie in his cases and putting thugs back out on the street. And blaming Obama like a good repiglican.

The problem is that some repig “judge” may stop the suit because old Darrie-boy can’t defend "him"self without giving up is Gawdgiven consteeeeeetoootionel raights!

Way to go. Make that snake pit of a police dept. pay thru the noes.

I used to be a fan of Al Sharpton. But given that he insinuated himself in all these cases, and given he’s influencing the attorneys representing the victims, and given that this erroneous grand jury finding could readily be challenged on multiple grounds and they didn’t file a single paper before the court to our knowledge, I can only presume his interests are in rushing to the payout phase of the process. Same with the case of Mr. Garner.

Not that the Brown family doesn’t deserve ample compensation, but this at best negligence and at worst skid-greasing to the payoff undermines the cause and gives the critics fodder. These are issues that transcend any one incident and demand the test of jury trial. The cause of justice is not being served by letting the cop-biased findings of the legal system stand, regardless of the particular guilt or innocence of any individual officer. They must be challenged, and to do less gives them carte blanche to continue. The blind acceptance of these findings will only offer more blood-soaked fields to be harvested by the for-profit civil rights industry, which seemingly bears little relationship to civil rights.

If there are no legal entities that are willing to file criminal charges, what are they left with?

Indeed, the Grand Jury was a fiasco and should have been tossed and re-run. Even if there are avenues for challenging it directly and however desirable a service this would be, prevailing on this or on a civil suit in the area would be difficult. Whether or not the family prevails and is entitled to monetary rewards, I applaud their filing this suit because it will provide a public review of the facts which is much needed. In any event, may getting a clearer picture of how things actually happened give them what peace is possible.

Who, exactly, are you predicting will lose here?

It’s not just the police department. The report is an indictment of the entire stinking city government. The whole genesis of the way police-public relations went to hell in that town, and apparently in many neighboring towns, is that the white-minority government uses the criminal justice system to squeeze revenue out of the black majority so they don’t have to raise taxes on themselves. Intense pressure is placed on the police department to squeeze more and more revenue out of them as tax revenues decrease.

The place is a microcosmic lab of the neofeudal dystopia the Kochs, Norquist’s bunch, the Club for Growth and the rest of the liberty-loving oligarchs for liberty want to turn the whole country into. They should call the place Kochtopolis. The joke is that the minority squeezing the majority like 18th Century French aristocrats will just be that many more sheep for sheering and slaughter in the brave new world the Kochs and their oligarch friends are planning for us.

What a sour pus you are for saying that!

With the recent release of DoJ’s report, I think Michael’s parents have more than enough evidence to prevail in a civil suit. Your raunchy ass must be somewhat jealous to see them have victory in the wrongful death suit of their son.

And let us not forget this you sour pus mofo…Wilson copped the most well know plea…the culprit was going for my gun…what a white pitiful punk he has turned out to be…you too are welcome into his shitty den!
