Just like CNN is part of the liberal media.
A literal āhe said she saidā hereā¦If Chrisās ideas were so great, he should have been able to make sense of them to the staffers who left. Now he just sounds like a high school football coach with a bad locker room speech. Iāll bet he paid some consultants a passel of money to cogitate on the new direction. As often happens they may have misunderstood what the real attributes of the publication and those that value itās role and what is possible under savvy leadership.
My bet is that he paid those consultants not to decide the direction, but to figure out how to sell it.
āI didnāt buy the New Republic to be the conservator of a small print magazine whose long-term influence and survival were at risk,ā
I bought it because it is a marketable brand that I could pick up on the cheap, and then tell folks what they should think under that brand umbrella. I just cant be bothered to come up with as much content as those old folks did.
I believe the full name of the magazine in its most recent form is āEven the Liberal New Republicā⦠so no, not a liberal rag.
Actually it was a case of decent human beings against an entitled little Facebook Shithead.

Go Fuck Yourself.
She asked what was going on and I answered. If you have another take on the situation, then by all means, why donāt you enlighten her and everyone else?
Otherwise keep your snide, crap comments in the peanut gallery.
If they had that privilege, they used it to stand up for their principles rather than to cling to the money. This seems to have blindsided the new young owner who is himself a study in privileged insularity.
Seems hard to believe theyād quit over more digital and a little less print. Got to be more than that, I would think.
