I wish the media would tell the truth about why Putin and Russia are involved in our elections in support of Republicans and Republican groups. The reason is that Putin blames Obama for the worst defeat in Russian history, the loss of the Ukraine. The Ukraine had been under Russian control since Catherine the Great about 250 years ago. It is debatable if Putinās loss of the Ukraine, known as āThe Breadbasket of Europeā for its 18 inches of top soil, is due to Obama. Rather, in my view Russia and Putinās loss of the Ukraine is due more to Putin than Obama, but Obama did take advantage of Putinās incompetence, corruption and brutality.
The Ukraine was under Russian control with a democratically elected Pro-Russian Government. That Government was both corrupt and brutal. The Government was also being run for the good of Putin and Russia and not the people of the Ukraine. As a result, likely with CIA and or other USA intelligence help and instigation, there were mass prolonged protests against the Pro-Russian Putin but democratically elected government of the Ukraine. Instead of what Obama and Americaās best hope of the Putin puppet Ukrainian Government negotiating with the Ukrainian protesters, the Pro-Russian/Putin Government started shooting it own people. This action by Putinās hand picked puppet to run the Ukraine caused that Government to lose any legitimacy and Putinās puppet had to flee for his life. When that happened, realizing he had been defeated, Putin took back the Crimea.
The Crimea had been given to the Ukraine in 1956 over USA objection by the USSR to increase Russian influence in the Soviet Republic. Adding the Crimea to the Ukraine with its overwhelming Russian population had worked well for Russia which is why the democratically elected leader of the Ukraine was a Russian puppet. But with his puppetās loss of legitimacy, Putin either had to risk loosing the only all year port under Russian control or retake the Crimea. So when Putin took back the Crimea, Putin and everyone who knew anything about the situation knew that by removing those Russians from the Ukraine, Russia had lost the Ukraine.
The problem is the media hates to change a narrative it has lived with for 50 years, that Republicans are strong on national defense and Democrats are weak. But in fact this narrative has never been true and today it is completely false. Lead by Clinton, the Democrats have taken a muscular approach to foreign policy similar to FDR and Truman. Bush Jr. on the other hand ālooked into Putinās eyes and saw his soulā.
And that is why Putin is doing everything he can to help Republicans, because Democrats have since at least Bill Clinton been far tougher on Russian than Republicans.
