What stood out to me as relatively new information is how obsessed Trump was with McCabe even as far back as his President-elect days. I, at least, wasn’t aware of that.
It seems Trump could never quite figure out what it means to be a professional, no matter how many times Comey tried to explain it to him. I assume because if the situation had been reversed, Trump would have never let it go. Honestly, he just perseverates on the same issues repeatedly. What an incredible bore and boor! I’d hate to do his daily briefings.

And if Comey has been sending copies of his notes to other senior FBI officials, presumably that would have included McCabe. So McCabe knew in real time Trump was fixated on him. I find that interesting. I wonder if that led McCabe to do anything or behave differently.
so is there any chance we’ll find out who leaked this and why? I don’t mean which specific individuals, more like, did it likely come from a congressperson? Congressional staffers? Or from people at the DoJ? Who benefits from this being leaked right now?
Matthew Miller nailed it—the DOJ broke with long-established precedent and norms, that evidence comprising an active criminal investigation does NOT get turned over. To Congress, not anyone else. Period. That’s now gone. TBF, maybe they felt boxed in—Goodlatte, Jordan and Meadows were threatening Rosenstein with contempt (which is bs, no way House leadership wanted to touch that one)—but that’s hard if you’re in the hot seat. I’m glad they protected Rosenstein—for the moment anyway—but the “legislative terrorists” (as John Boehner dubbed Jim Jordan) exacted a very steep price
And indeed now they will go to work finding the aspect of Comey’s testimony that seems most to contradict something he said on his book tour, or something else they can use to discredit the FBI. Additionally, they now have a better idea of what Special Counsel will argue about obstruction, and lay the groundwork for rebuttal and a PR blitz.
These guys are not just playing the refs, they’re doing opposition research on the refs’ private predilections and then sending “some girls around” to their house. I honestly don’t understand why everyone in Washington doesn’t see that Team Trump is pissing away the very laws and standards that protect them and everyone else.
I’m guessing it’s paranoia based upon a lifetime of cultivating enemies with unfair, strong-arm mafia type business practices. It’s what he knows. And he probably figures there’s a good chance the FBI has, shall we say, some delicate information about his personal and professional lives.
He will get no sleep tonight. I still do not get what classified information Comey leaked. My understanding is that the memos were leaked to reporters by members of Congress. If anything Trump looks worse wrt Russia. Gawd oh dear 25th amendment, resignation, somebody puhleeze.
ETA @pshah no kidding about the mafia thing. He talked about giving Comey his loyalty and they had that thing. It creeped me out and no wonder Comey said Trump acted like a member of the mob.
One other notable item to me was the way Trump spoke about leaks. Rather than try to identify who leaked read outs of phone calls etc., Trump talked about jailing journalists.
Thank you, Stormy Daniels and Michael Avenatti. I’m pretty sure “following the money” in this matter provided the raison d’être for the extensive raid on Cohen’s records.
That one is pretty much a meltdown tweet I think. A demented, deranged, exponentially deteriorating psycho screaming rage and agony while making no human sense whatsoever.
I’m hoping Kelly, though bigoted, racist, useless and now apparently sidelined, is holding tight on the football tonight.
