Doesn’t matter what she says the GOPERs will turn it around to fit their narrative. Fuckers !
I’d like to know the number of political blogs that have been sued for the sort of thing we’re discussing here in this kind of situation.
As for problems with jury selection, whatever “problems” that result from TPM accurately describing Dear as the murderer pale in significance to the basic mainstream media coverage that the murders have already received.
I’m not usually a tin foil hatter or into conspiracies, but my first thought after the Benghazi attacks was that the video that was released on the Internet was a political stunt meant to incite riots and make it look like Obama was ineffective in reducing terrorism. Mitt Romney’s first response after the attack just seemed like a too ready response when he criticized Obama. I don’t think the intent of the video was to get the ambassador killed, and I don’t think the intent of the planned parenthood videos were to get people killed. The intent was likely just to get some political advantage. But the risk that someone will get killed or hurt when people are riled up by inflammatory misinformation is great. IMO, these political stunts cross a line, much like the Cheney administration’s seeding misinformation about WMDs in Iraq crossed a line. Unfortunately, none of these people will admit any responsibility for the mayhem, and misery they have caused.a
“Accused” would be more appropriate than “suspected.” Anyone can be a suspect. It takes a certain legal standard to be accused of a crime.
Does the ex-wife get his partial mobile home and cardboard box or do they go to his kids?
He has 3 ex-wives and at least 4 kids, so it could be a messy fight! Joking aside, I just can’t wrap my head around the last wife letting him have primary custody of their son. I wonder what that poor kid’s life was like.
I guess that’s what you call deep transgender cover…
I don’t disagree with your logic but at the same time it is good to see TPM uphold the high journalistic standards… no need to come down to “their level” on these things. Especially when it’s a simple matter of adding the word “alleged” in…
They were tipped of before, so they could plan watching it…
It’s a poor word choice—the time-honored term is “alleged” when a person has been accused or indicted for a crime but not yet convicted. Quoting from my old Associated Press stylebook here: “…avoid any suggestion that an individual is being judged before a trial.” If I were copyediting this piece (Yo Josh! I’m available!) I’d have changed it. In commonsense terms there’s no doubt, I mean, he put down his damn gun and the cops grabbed him, that’s not suspicion to a reasonable person. But the guideline is still to avoid saying flatly that he did it.
ETA: I was looking stuff up and typing while others were saying similar things. For the record this is one thing and any reluctance or hesitation to say what his motivation inescapably seemed to be is another.
Dear is a left wing media plant.
We don’t know that one of the fetuses wasn’t armed and this is a false flag operation to tarnish the good name of all those righteous pro-life organizations that would never, ever condone such behavior.
Twitter parties actually:
Typically the kids as long as they are actually divorced. But he has to die first, so that’s a net positive for the kids all around probably.

Unfortunately, the baseline for style-- decorum– has seemingly become passé.

Ugg saw Carly Fiorina jumping up and down and screaming, “I want to kiss Robert Dear’s buttcrack!” No, really. Ugg saw it. Ugg not lying.
Is that a one size fits all velcro adjustable bullet proof vest he’s wearing?
Possibly there should be more separation on TPM between Opinion and reporting. I was under the impression that Josh was trying to create more than a site with Opinions.
This just underscores the concerns I have about the Intertubes being the go-to site for “news” when most sites do not follow any journalistic standards…BUT the average reader doesn’t have a clue. They believe whatever sites they follow.
So…yes…I think any site that is “reporting” should keep their verbiage clear.
You are entitled to your opinion, as am I.
