Podhoretz:
you are a foul, disgusting liar and a stain on American public life. The stench of your deceit and your views pollutes your district, your state, your party, and the United States.
He could put this on Christmas cards and mail one to each Republican in Congress.
I read this on Twitter (or maybe it was TPM) last week.
The two things racists hate most:
- Being called racist.
- People who aren’t white.
Hey Jon Pod!
What about Orrin Hatch? What about Mitch Fucking McConnell and Lindsey Graham? What about Brett Kavanaugh? Ted Cruz? Matt Gaetz?
I guess they haven’t yet insulted you and foul, disgusting liar Bill Kristol. Sons of famous Neo Cons who inherited their editorial positions gotta stick together.
Steve King plays a useful role for conservatives with racial tinges to their worldview.
He’s the flagrant racist that they are not… publicly.
“I’m no racist like Steve King, but I think you’d have to be out of your cotton-picking mind not to worry about the monkey business with European peoples’ identities.
We can’t be niggardly towards our brethren in Europe in their efforts to preserve their identities”
I agree, except for your mention of the word “niggardly,” which has absolutely nothing to do with hatred towards African-Americans.
Fat Bastard no doubt tweeted his thanks to Herr King for taking the heat off of him for a moment.
There was a DC councilman about 20 years ago who got in trouble for using that word in a council meeting. I don’t recall if he kept his job, but it was a big deal—despite the fact that’s it has a Scandinavian root having nothing to do with color.
Which one is the fruit of Midge Decter’s loins? I forget …
ugggh. I loathe steve king but having to agree with the editor of Dysentery–whoops, thats Commentary–is just icky.
Yes, I recall that incident, and others.
But there’s enough real hate to dispel. We don’t need to see any where it does not exist.
Oh, I remember Evil Midge Decter when she drove Harper’s magazine into the ground.
And he’s misusing the word. Niggardly means cheap. “We can’t be chap towards [sic] our brethren in Europe…” doesn’t make it.
Podhoretz is being too nice.
Those are qualities which endear him to his fellow Republicans.
No, let’s redact the articles until the truth remains.
“Steve King is an ugly, racist, ignorant monster who nonetheless continues to survive thanks to the people who get to choose the presidential candidates thanks to their whiteness.”
It’s time for Podhoretz to widen his attacks to include all other “foul, disgusting liars.” Where to start? There are so, so many targets.
It’s just the sort of the thing a half-educated racist would say, trying to be offensive in a cute way.
You may need to retune your snark-o-meter.
And in spite of his miserable self the Iowa Governor supported him, campaigned with him in his district until after the election when she chose to chastise him. She needed his like minded voters from the “very religious” northwest Iowa voter. What sad times we live in
