Discussion: Ex-Trump Campaign Adviser Carter Page's Accounts Of Russia Ties Keep Shifting

Page told TPM on Thursday that he was “jammed” and unable to conduct a phone interview, but that the FBI was “unjustified” in monitoring his communications.

“It shows how low the Clinton/Obama regime went to destroy our democracy and suppress dissidents who did not fully support their failed foreign policy,” he said in an emailed statement.

Page didn’t respond to follow-up questions about whether he’s retained a lawyer or been advised to stop speaking to the press.

Apparently the ‘Jammers’ got him. Nice work, Allegra !

Question of the moment seems to be the following: Is Page a genuine idiot, or is he pretending to be stupid a counter-interrogation technique.
Because the Russian spies were talking about his stupidity, I’ll go with 1, but with a twist: I think Page is a genuine idiot who is trying to pretend to be an idiot, to deflect questions.

this guy comes across as a bumbling hack. could all be a “cover”, I suppose, to keep his evil genius from being exposed in public. I’d put my money on no, not even close.

Genuine idiot. You learn you have somehow fallen into an FBI inquiry. Is this what you do?

In his September 2016 letter asking Comey for a “prompt end” to the
FBI’s inquiry into his Moscow trip, Page said he had “not been contacted
by any member of your team in recent months.” He seems to have stuck to
that line until February.

Send a letter to the Directory of the FBI - requesting (demanding?) for a “prompt end” to the inquiry into one of your trips? Is that a sign of arrogant self-importance (probably), or of idiocy - as it would further catch interest - per “what does he not want us to see?”

“Well, I have been very forthcoming that I want to get as much information out there as possible, and that has stood from the very beginning,” Page replied.

It’s called “poisoning the jury pool.”

And he is getting away with it!

How is this news? He’s a Republican. Of course his stories keep changing. Where’s the news in that?

Is Page a fuckface because he’s an idiot, or because US foreign policy should be accommodating to his position to make money off of Russian oil and gas?

As an engineer I must admit I find the ‘polonium’- jokes are getting rather worn out (for many reasons Po-210 is a rather bad poison of choice).

No, go biodynamic, much cheaper and more difficult to trace:

Trump: It looks like Putin doesn’t always hire the best. With me, he lucked out.

Wonder which RW media outfit will give him a radio show, or will poise him for a senate run (Like Ollie North, and G Gordon Liddy before him.)

Nonsense: few have heard of this sociopath.

So who brought Page into Trump’s campaign? Who brought Page forward enough that Trump remembered his name for the WaPo interview?

I don’t have a handle on “investment banker” career path but why would some one who graduated from the Naval Academy, 5 years as a Marine intelligence officer, working for Merrill Lynch and stationed in Moscow qualify him as a Ph.D.?
