Discussion: Ex-Speaker Dennis Hastert's Portrait Removed From House Hallway

Discussion for article #242438

Can’t they just slap a wrought iron gate over Dennis’ portrait to remind some of these guys where they’ll end up one day?

Brilliant…don’t want his infamy to fade …ever.

Nah. No one goes to jail for breaking banking laws. Hell, that’s a republican badge of honor, bona fides, if you will. It’s not like he was found guilty of buggering a minor or something nefarious like that.

I’m crestfallen. Just so upset. I was planning to throw rotten eggs and dead cats at Hastert’s portrait hanging in its new place in Boehner’s Freedumb Foyer.

So the House Republicans had spent a hundred thousand dollars for a portrait of a pedophile? Just like Kaisch, I’m so sick of those people. All those fake social conservatives and fiscal Republicans. Why doesn’t the the KKK and Aryan Nation take them out for good?

“The portrait has hung for years in the Speaker’s Lobby”

“Spokeswoman AshLee Strong says new Speaker Paul Ryan felt it was time to ‘rotate in a different portrait.’”

All right, who’s the Freudian wise guy who wrote this article?

Here’s what they are replacing it with:

Here’s hoping Marshall E. Leonard isn’t also a Hastert fan.

Not to mention, that having the Hastert’s portrait modified with the wrought iron gate, may encourage the GoP boys and girls to play fairly, instead of pulling these hostage shut down tactics they frequently ignite!

Was it promptly placed in the locker room of the house gym?

So much easier to simply remove the entire portrait than to airbrush out the faces of those you have purged…

I still laugh when I think of the thread a few months back in which Senator Lindsay said he would have a “rotating first lady.”

Spokeswoman AshLee Strong says new Speaker Paul Ryan felt it was time to “rotate in a different portrait.”

It’s only Monday. I hope the poor dear didn’t have this on his beautiful mind all weekend as he spent time with his wife and kids.

In a next step, do you think they’ll remove Denny’s name from “the Hastert Rule”?

It could become the “He Who Must Not Be Named Rule”

Why remove it? The Hastert Rule is still in effect!

Ex-Speaker current tax-evader and suspected child pervert Denny Hastert was quietly ripped off of the chamber walls today by new Speaker and current Freedom Caucus prisoner Paul Ryan whom hasn’t been caught doing anything yet.

Hastert rule in-Hastert out.
Ryan in- Hastert memories out.
Republicans being outed-outstanding!

How about this beautiful portrait?

I would expect the Hastert portrait to be quietly put back up in a few years’ time – perhaps when they put up the portrait of John Boehner.

After all, you can’t have a hall of oil paintings with a blank place. Draws too much attention (to the misdeeds). I think they’ll just let the radioactivity die down a bit.

After all, there’s probably still portraits of Richard Nixon around Washington (though the only place I’ve ever actually seen them is in Beijing.)

They ought to bury it (face down) under the House Basement.
