Discussion: Ex- Rep. Reynolds, Out Of Zimbabwe Prison: 'Double Standard' Against Me

Discussion for article #223262

Note to self: if I ever need to claim I’m being persecuted by the media, do not refer to self in the third person.

I’d like to be done with politics, but I don’t know.

Ooh, ooh, call on me! I know the answer to that one!

You’re toast, Reynolds. Your 15 minutes were up a long time ago.

You know when a “reporter” is issuing a hit piece when they use “rambling” to describe someone’s words.

Hey, the Tribune reporter also referred to Reynolds’ statement as a “stream-of-conscious [sic] soliloquy.”

Just spitballin’ here, but I’m inclined to think that someone who imagines that there are clandestine hit squads out to get him is probably not going to be delivering any concise, “model of clarity” statements.

“stream-of-conscious [sic] soliloquy.” – That’s a lot more appropriate description, if the guy meant it.

Using “rambling” is a dead giveaway that the writer is either doing a hit piece or is kinda stupid and cant follow what someone is saying.

I forgot to add – Why do you think there wouldn’t be “clandestine hit squads” out to get this guy? It’s Zimbabwe!

Even Rambling Reporter Daniel Strauss got the part about “Reynolds, in his rambling speech, said he was actually arrested because of information he had on dealings between officials from the United States and officials from Zimbabwe.”

You don’t think there is any plausibility in that? US is secretly dealing with people in Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe is not exactly the land of the free and it the US military is surrounding Zimbabwe with troops stationed in how many African nations?

The Porn charges? For a topless photo on his phone?

Too bad TPM seems to breed little Blue Dog/Drudge wannabees in their reporters . . . .

This is so off topic but someone sent this to me and I wanted to share

Robbers entered a bank in a small town.
One of them shouted: "Don’t move! The money belongs to the bank. Your lives belong to you.”
Immediately all the people in the bank laid on the floor quietly and without panic.
This is an example of how the correct wording of a sentence can make everyone change their view of the world.

One woman laid on the floor in a provocative manner.
The robber approached her saying, “Ma’am, this is a robbery not a rape. Please behave accordingly.”

This is an example of how to behave professionally, and focus on the goal.

While running from the bank the youngest robber (who had a college degree) said to the oldest robber (who had barely finished elementary school): “Hey, maybe we should count how much we stole.”?
The older man replied: “Don’t be stupid. It’s a lot of money so let’s wait for the news on TV to find out how much money was taken from the bank.”

This is an example of how life experience is more important than a degree.

After the robbery, the manager of the bank said to his accountant: “Let’s call the cops and tell them how much has been stolen.”
"Wait”, said the Accountant, “before we do that, let’s add the $800,000 we took for ourselves a few months ago and just say that it was stolen as part of today’s robbery.”

This is an example of taking advantage of an opportunity.

The following day it was reported in the news that the bank was robbed of $3 million. The robbers then counted the money, but they found only $1 million so they started to grumble. “We risked our lives for $1 million, while the bank’s management robbed two million dollars without blinking? Maybe its better to learn how to work the system, instead of being a simple robber.”

This is an example of how knowledge can be more useful than power.

Moral: Give a person a gun, and he can rob a bank. Give a person a bank, and he can rob everyone.

If he’s in possession of highly damaging information about U.S. dealings with Zimbabwe, information so explosive that someone thought it was worth putting a contract on his life, why did Zimbabwe drop the charges against him and toss him out only for overstaying his visa? And how is it that he’s now doing press conferences in Chicago?

And “the US military … surrounding Zimbabwe with troops?” Where, exactly? Zambia? Botswana? Mozambique? This must be occurring in some super-ultra-double-secret black operation that no one else in the world has heard about.

BTW, let’s not forget that Reynolds was convicted of statutory rape, of bank fraud, and of lying to SEC investigators. Not exactly what one would call a reliable source of information.

Who said “he’s in possession of highly damaging information about U.S. dealings with Zimbabwe,” except yourself?

“Reynolds said he possesses information that would expose secret dealings between U.S. businessmen and the Zimbabwe government.” – I take it “businessmen” will operate a little differently then the USG. Maybe more likely to use gunmen. Maybe not.

Africa. You don’t know shit about Africa, apparently. http://www.africom.mil/

Why wouldn’t you think that Reynolds could be set up for a crime?

Oh, yeah, because “let’s not forget that Reynolds was convicted of statutory rape, of bank fraud, and of lying to SEC investigators”?

What 'reliable source" is in any of this hit piece?

I don’t mind you being under-educated and misinformed but your villager mentality is leaking out.

Why me, Chammy? I appreciate the individual attention.

Don’t you know there are troll hunters here that will “flag” you for being “off-topic”. Brave brave troll hunters.

LOL. I wanted to post it to the most recent post so someone would see it. I am sorry if I offended you in any way, It was not my attention. I just loved the morals of the story.
