You’re right. There is a name for that: Elliott Cutler, the independent who ran for governor twice, with no chance of winning, and got LePage elected. Actually, I think the first time he ran second, because the Democrats had a weak candidate. But last year, he robbed the people of Maine of the chance to have a decent governor by exalting his own vanity.
Good point, but I think the throw actually has to hit him for it to be battery. So it might have to be assault if she threw it with intent to harm, though a simple misdemeanor, not the felony of aggravated assault.
But it appears to be just a simple “lob” near him, not at him, a symbolic gesture.

She placed it on the stage at the corner of the dais LePage was sitting behind, and as she was being strongarmed away from the stage area you could see the jar sitting there. If it’d been tossed it’d have still been rolling…

Stephen King has a house in Florida but lives and pays taxes in Maine. LePage was incorrect in inferring that King moved to avoid Maine income tax.
Of course LePage was wrong. King said so himself repeating that he does indeed pay his taxes as he should. I was pointing out LePage’s illogic in whining about King’s “avoiding payment” while at the same time LePage wants to do away with that very tax. Le Page has no reason to get picky. But it’s typical GOPer type reasoning.
