So far it’s pretty low-grade stuff. Joe Biden - SPACE INVADER!!
I’m sure his potential rivals will want to exploit this, but what’s sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. Both cases seem more like friendly/nurturing intent than anything sexual or misogynous. He’s much more like to act this way with women I assume because of cultural upbringing than anything untoward. Some people were uncomfortable and perhaps Joe’s a little to gregarious, but I wouldn’t describe any of it as menacing (unlike Trump’s behavior toward women – which forces him to lie and deny) or disqualifying.
If the Dems choose to eat their own on this kind of low grade stuff – hardly even in the neighborhood of Al Franken – then I might have to register as an independent.
He voted for the Iraqi War.
He voted for the Patriot Act.
He voted for NAFTA.
He voted for Clinton’s amoral and disgraceful Welfare “Reform”. (FDR turned in his grave.) He wrote and voted for the 90’s crime bill leading to mass incarceration for millions of African Americans.
He fully supported the ruinous war on drugs we are still struggling to end.
As the senator from Delaware he wrote and promoted laws making it harder to declare bankruptcy from predatory credit card debt. Thanks Joe!
He has deep ties to Wall Street and Big Pharma and credit card and insurance companies and accepts donations from same.
He helped silence and shame Anita Hill; he refused to call other credible witnesses to Clarence Thomas’s offensive sexist behavior. And that’s why we have that reactionary nitwit GOP corporate stooge on the court.

We’ve mostly given you a pass, myself included. I’ve enjoyed the Obama/Biden memes, think that you were “alright” given the time and shared with the rest of the country your very public personal grief. I believe the stories I’ve heard about your kind spirit and generosity (some from my own family members) and appreciate the comfort you’ve provided many.
Please, bow out gracefully now. So many of us want to have a generally positive even if complicated memory of you. You can do so much more good by taking the time to reflect on your long and impressive career and sharing that with us.
Sincerely,
A Democrat
But heh, maybe this is necessary. Maybe Biden is offering himself up, sacrificing his memory so that we can finally bury the past sins of the party. Because this can’t possibly end well for him and can only serve to highlight what was wrong and needs to change. And yea, sexism, patronizing and entitled attitudes towards women is one of the things Biden participated in and our party needs to be purged of.
Get used to it because Joe is prime for this kind of criticism in the #MeToo age. He really is a man from a different time and context/situation no longer matter. He’ll probably be out of the running in the next couple of months because I don’t think he’ll be able to weather the onslaught that’s headed his way. He really should’ve just stayed on the sideline and campaigned for whatever Dem got the nom.
Looks like some serious trolling
Someone wants him derailed
Approaching swift boat intensity, remembering the people who they got to speak out against him were Viet vets too.
Amy Lappos, a former aide to Rep. Jim Hines (D-CT) says that former Vice President Joe Biden grabbed her head and rubbed her nose without her consent at a fundraiser in 2009.
In some women, rubbed vigorously enough, this produces an orgasm.
Oh wait. Nose? Never mind...............
He’ll probably be out of the running in the next couple of months because I don’t think he’ll be able to weather the onslaught that’s headed his way.
If he is out of the running in the next few months, it’s because he’s never really gained a whole lot of traction in the presidential primaries. He’s always been a 4th to 5th place candidate.
I don’t think this sort of criticism will have much traction with older women. As was pointed out above, it’s more a sense of not respecting one’s boundaries rather than outright sexism. Not even close. I could see Biden doing this to a younger man as well.
We’ll never know what kind of candidate he would be because at this point, it’s just a matter of time before more anecdotes - true, false, or embellished - start hitting the headlines. He’s out.
Policy. No. Gossipy sexy allegations with lots of grisly detail? Yep.
The media would much rather lick up these juicy tidbits people throw at them than hit the streets and do journalism. So, you’ll hear more crap like this until your stomach has turned.
What are you talking about? Very few people ask, “Can I rub your nose”? If he wanted to establish dominance, he couldn’t done it in a myriad of ways. Jeez, lighten up Francis.
@scmed: Biden is getting a lot of traction off of his affiliation with President Obama. Without that affiliation, he doesn’t offer a whole lot.
Yea. If I hadn’t noted his original dismissal regarding his actions towards Anita Hill (later he apologized but she says he never contacted her) I’d be surprised by how bad they’ve responded. Also agree their response inspires other women to publicly share discomfort they felt.
I’ve never thought he could win the primary but there was a way to handle this that could’ve made it a situation where many of us could’ve let it be. And by that I mean, leave him as a decent figure of the old guard that we take from the best and leave the rest.
Oh JHC…I DID read last night that someone had DARED to kiss Beyonce on the cheek…TWICE for God’s sake. Christ. That’s just like MAULING her. I’m all for calling out predators but ‘he rubbed my nose’? I don’t even know what that MEANS…and ‘lowly’ or not you DO have the power to pull back, glare, cry or just SAY ‘that’s not OK’…MY daughter would tense up like Angela Merkel and shoot you a look so dark you’d KNOW you stepped over the line and she’s only 22…
