Discussion: Ex-CIA Officer Valerie Plame Isn't A Fan Of Barr Casually Referring To 'Spying'

Ever get the feeling that Barr would out her all over again if it were possible?

Maybe not out her, but I’ll bet real money that he was all over the Scooter Libby pardon.

As a voter in this Congressional district in New Mexico, I applaud her criticisms of Attorney General Barr. HIs role in the coverup of many GOP crimes is criminal in the most real sense of the term.

Will I vote for her? I doubt it. The last time the Green Party ran a strong candidate here, a nutty right-wing Los Alamos preacher squeaked in for a term.

But I’m glad she is gaining attention for a worthy cause, the exposure of Barr as a venal political hack who has no respect for the law, justice, and truth.

She’s running as a dem, and you won’t vote for her?

Not in the primary. I was being vague. She won’t make it past the primary.

Oh. Who else is running?

Many.

It’s an open seat because the incumbent, Ben Ray Luhan, is running for the Senate seat to be vacated by Tom Udall.

Google it.

who has better name recognition than Plame in the district? because if there are that many people running, “name recognition” alone could be determinative.

Go Valerie!

Stick it to Barr. But he wasn’t being merely casual when saying that the FBI spied on candidate Trump. He was very intentional and sly. Very different.

I knew that about Luhan. I thought maybe there was someone who was a frontrunner right now.

Looks like three Hispanic candidates and Plame. She’d be good, but I agree that she probably won’t
be the nominee.

Plame is locally unknown. Rural NM is different from what you know about, apparently. The others are local politicians who have constituencies, something that Plame lacks here.

She is new to NM and is based in Santa Fe, whose motto is “The City Different.” Santa Fe has been captured by the wealthy and locals can’t afford to live there. Northern NM, on the other hand, is not wealthy.

NM is one of the poorest states in the US.

Get it yet?

Precisely.

Watch what happens the first time a defense attorney refers to federal or state surveillance as "Spying’ and cites the US AG definition should a prosecutor object.

I wonder how a jury will react that term? Too funny.

Or scary.

Bill Barr opened that door- and any American can walk through.

so you are saying that Democrats who live in cities like Santa Fe and Taos, and those who live in the northern suburbs of Albuquerque, are hayseeds who live so far outside “civilization” that they don’t get CNN? Do you just get a blank stare when you say “internet” to these people?

Because otherwise, Plame has name recognition. And (as I said once) in a divided field with many candidates, name recognition alone can be determinative.

oh, and btw, I looked up the demographics of the 3rd district…

its 62.7% “urban”, 37.3% “rural”
median income is $47,325 – below the us average of $59K, but given the lower cost of living, not poverty level.
and its 41% white, 36% hispanic, and 20% native american

And being based in the largest city in the district is probably not a bad thing…

I am saying that you are interestingly concerned that a minority of voters in this district should be more like you.

I don’t expect you to get it.

If she’s running as a Dem what does the Green Party have to do with it?
