If they did this without Christie knowing about it, he’s disqualified for being incompetent.
If he knew about it, he’s disqualified for being a corrupt asshole.

Memories of Watergate are welling up. For those of you too young to know directly, I was 32 when the burglary occurred and 35 when the final curtain came down (on Nixon) so I was following the whole thoing from start to finish. This caper has many similarities: “I am not a crook” — Nixon; “I ma not a bully” — Christie.Also a petty caper (a stupidly bungled burglary and the lane shenanigans) that went underground (a year in Watergate) and then bubbled up through Woodstein’s digging and the criminal trial, which we have yet to see in Bridgegate. But as the walls are beginning to crumble as lower-level rtfkrs like Wildstein and Stepien maneuver to save themselves by sacrificing the ones above them; it looks like a replay. Marx (I think) said something “History repeats itself the first time as tragedy, the second time as farce.” We are about to see a first-rate political and criminal farce. At least i hope so.

Of course, among the several public benefits conferred on the citizenry of New Jersey by the “report” (ha ha ha … yes, that’s what they call it; what a thigh slapper) written, produced & directed by Le Mastro, and featuring what’ll end up being several millions of the People’s Money diverted from some other public enterprise deemed less worthy than the governor’s bloated hide, is the pre-sliming of those who Lo! those many hours ago worked for, or under, or by virtue of the Governor’s noblesse oblige, or for his re-election. Thus we needs take care not to over-sympathize with the rattish slime-ees, given they went to work for this gigantic flatulent piratical pustool of a human disaster of their own free choice.

The list of things Christie could possibly hide behind is somewhat limited within this heliosphere. Thereafter, however, there are apparently several trillions stars, planets and other objects large enough to pull it off in this galaxy alone.
You got me there by almost a generation, frog, but I too watched it all, and I agree of all the scandals, real and imagined, since, this one’s the closest to Watergate. That first one started out as just a way that creepy Nixon and the creeps in his presidental re-election front CREEP figured to get way in front of Democratic National Party HQ plans (leaving aside that Heisenberg proved no Democratic candidate and Democratic election campaign plan can ever exist simultaneously in the same space) - a futile search. And that it was the re-break-in, either to pull out the bugs or replace or service them being unclear, where the CREEP nudniks got pinched. IOW this thing about the Jersey bridge is by every measure a classic Watergate revival.

And we’re supposed to believe that Governor Christie the most incurious Governor in the history of the world didn’t ask the one question we’d all like an answer to - Why? Why did Stepien, Kelly and Wildstein close those lanes?
