Discussion: Ex-Bush Aide Rails Against Cohen Prosecutors: 'This Is Flimflam'

I think it may have to go farther down the path than charges, khyber. It may have to go through the entire judicial process, which may be delayed for years. Allows the GOP to continue to deny, deny, deny.

ETA; I’m guessing, in general (not direct at khyber) that flim flam, otherwise known as bait and switch, otherwise known as lying, isn’t a crime.

Or if Obama wore a tan suit… oh wait…

“There is no way they are going to impeach Donald Trump over $280,000,”

But a blow job, well that’s a different story.

I might be. It would depend on all the circumstances.

Pipsqueak.

“I mean, look, the prosecutors’ theory here in this indictment, this is flimflam. They’re basically saying if only the American people had known Donald Trump had had sex with two women who weren’t his wife, the outcome of the election could have been different. This is flimflam.”

Yeah, I turned it off as soon as they started to introduce him.

This. Trump was worried enough that those women telling their stories would cost him the election that he was willing to spend more than $400K, suborn bank fraud, file a false tax return and lie uncounted times in public.

Yet another republican liar attributing to trump courage he never had.

Uhh, no, that’s “basically” what FatNixon and Co. were saying, you fucknut, and that’s why they spent big money to make sure the American people didn’t know.

The ability of reactionaries to invert and project is “basically” an inexhaustible resource, if we could boil water instead of brains with it we’d have climate change solved.

Yeah, especially when it is Steve Inskeep doing the interview.

Well, they did impeach him on a “process crime”…

He’s right–that $280 grand is nothing compared to the millions in money Individual-1 defrauded from creditors, “students,” and the IRS. Never forget Individual-1 is a major criminal, not a petty one.

And Orrin Hatch doesn’t care either.

My goodness, the bar on the defenses of the current President is getting rather low, isn’t it?

The prosecutors aren’t saying anything of the sort. Thus far, they have only indicated that a violation of the law took place by Cohen at the behest of Trump. They haven’t characterized this at all beyond that. Jennings is a hack.

And it wasn’t the first nor the last time he ordered someone to do so.

According to Jennings you can only prosecute a violation of Federal campaign finance laws if you can prove “the outcome of the election could have been different.” But then he was “a former aide to President George W. Bush,” the second worst incurious president in modern US politics.

Someone needs to send Hatch a Mel coat.

Jennings was a player in the U.S. Attorneys scandal, so he’s on board with the law as a political tool rather than a system of justice.

Here - this has a lot of information about all of this from a legal standpoint:
