My financial advisor raved about his unorthodox methods yesterday and said some people say he deserves a Nobel Prize. I sat there horrified but went back to my office and started paperwork to pull all of my accounts from him.
I think you mean poll watchers. Pollsters gather data. The data may be of greater or lesser value, depending on the methodology, but data canât be wrong. It just is. And pollsters, while they may gather misrepresentation data, cannot themselves be wrong about future outcomes because pollsters donât forecast.
But the thing that really irks me about this meme is that 538âs analysis was never wrong. The poll data itself was never misleading. Nothing whatsoever was âoffâ in the polling process or analysis except Sam Wangâs methodologically flawed analysis. And the fact that people clung to that flawed analysis because it was what they wanted to hear.
Plus he could shoot someone on 5th Avenue and not lose any voters. And the molestation and rape accusations that have been made against him. You could not have a single moral bone in your body and vote for this violent bastard.
Strictly speaking heâs a Glamour Donât all over.
Perhaps your financial advisor is not familiar with the concept of short covering and shorting.

âVerbal Rampageâ? Oddly enough, for me his diatribe wasnât any more rampy than his usual Trumphat schtick.
Good point on terminology, Iâll be more careful. Statistics and probability was a unit in the one math course I had to take in college and I got out of the course and that unit in particular pretty much the way you get out of a burning apartment building in the middle of the nightâit wasnât fun, I didnât cover myself in glory, but I survived and thatâs the main thing. That said, the methodologies are typically imperfect if not flawed or flat wrong. People misunderstand the results anyway. And this election in particular was manipulated and we may never know all the means used or to what extent that influenced the outcome.
He better have a stroke that cuts off control of his tweetinâ fingers.
Baby Cage tRUmp is making me physically and mentally ill.
Beginning to feel despondent and fear greatly for the nationâs (and my childrenâsâ) future stable existence
I donât think it is a stretch that Kennedyâs retirement will be used make November a referendum on the SCâs future composition, thereby providing motivation for the âbaseâ lunatics
FAWK
I cannot begin to describe how pissed off I was. He started the small talk by saying, âSo Justice Kennedy is retiring and we get to pick another Supreme Court Justice.â I felt my heart rate and my blood pressure both start to go up.
The manipulation showed up clearly in the polls. Thatâs why I was unsurprised when Spanky won the election. The analysis on 538 showed the odds to be a coin toss shortly after the third debate. Then Comey tipped the election to Spanky. A bit of that final tipping showed up in the final round of polling. I was fairly sure on election night that Spanky would win. And why? Because I was watching the polls.
Maybe if you have to listen to it for a living every day the subtle differences emerge, the way the conductor hears things in rehearsal that you and I might not.
Daniel Dale, after live tweeting the first third of the diatribe (they are not speeches) opined that Trump seemed to more on message than in SC. Then, of course, things got very weird and Dale was âoh wellâ.
And paralyzes his tiny hands. And causes endless drool. That would work for me âŚespecially if no one bothers to concoct his daily combover.
Yes, he can take his place in history as enabling a fascist and his henchmen.
And to his last day, he should not be able to leave his house without being confronted by that fact. By loud, angry, but peaceful protesters, and hissed at out in public a la the Opera House at the end of Dangerous Liaisons.
Fuck Nancy Pelosi and her âcivilityâ, this is what that has got us.
You have too much faith in the Republican voter. Trump has brought out their inner Nazi.
Talking poll results here. And the panicked reaction of Republicans, who also look at polls and listen to phone calls read e-mails etc. Iâm not saying this because itâs something I somehow just know.
Too many seem to forget this when talking about the election. Despite all the evidence, even the liberal pundits frame it without this goober. âHillary did this wrong, Comey did his part, the Deplorables wanted revenge âŚâ blah, blah, blahâŚwhat about the meddling? Even here, that discussion often goes on an on without mention that the meddling and cheating were probably the primary reason this unqualified ass sits in the W.H⌠Maybe Mueller will connect these particular puzzle pieces in such a way that it is more widely acknowledged. A girl can dream.
Hey Trump!
Russia is bragging that they got you elected. Shady James Comey and the disgraced FBI agents were working on your behalf. Someday there will be a reckoning. Enjoy this week while it lasts, laugh all you want. Winter is coming.
The data are there and need to be analyzed. Big job. But when the election turned on small numbers of voters in three key states, thatâs a hint about where to start looking. Possible scenario: Trump camp takes voter rolls, feeds it to the Russian troll farms via Parscales and Cambridge Analytica, and targets key districts and maybe even particular voters in swing states.
