Discussion: Eric Holder Won't Run In 2020 But Plans To Focus On Redistricting

I applaud you Mr. Holder, and consider this a wise course of action.

Good, he was a weak AG.

“I wouldn’t have a snowball’s chance in Hell, but since everyone else in the Democratic Party is announcing a bid, I had to say something.”

weak AG?

You’re being too nice. How 'bout AG Holder, window dressing for Covington Burling, followed by manning the barricades for the TBTF/TBTJ banks.

I was kind of hoping he would. He’s an example of someone constantly dragged through the mud by the Purity Police, yet he’s one actually getting the really important work done.

Indeed, as he would have been unable to absorb the righteous onslaught of criticism for his cowardice of not prosecuting anybody after the Financial Debacle of the 2000s. He had a chance to prosecute multiple white collar crimes but chose settlements paid by stockholders. Pu$$y.

MARKETPLACE.ORG has a good, recent feature on this travesty.

If the next president supports his fair districting efforts we would have a big deal

Hi plucky! It’s true he’s been maligned, but it’s also true that he put his weaknesses on display and suffered a number of self-inflicted political wounds while in office. That said, I liked the way he and 44 fought for the underdogs on a number of occasions, and would rather remember him this way than watch him lose badly in a race he cannot win.

I guess I just never saw those. Just the right bleating about Fast & Furious and the white far left doing their usual dance.

I wish he had prosecuted someone of importance for the financial crisis. I wanted Him and Brown on the ticket.

Good! His failure to prosecute ANY bankers would have likely sunk him anyway.

A lot of the Far Left could use a read of John Howard Griffin’s “Black Like Me”

I think there was one low level, insignificant snuffy prosecuted for the financial crisis.

If he’s successful in this redistricting quest he could do a priceless service to the nation.
A price above rubies.

OT, but I just got another in numerous fund raising emails in the end Citizens United campaign.
Has anyone heard of any kind of legislation that could weaken it short of repealing it?

Any? How many is any? Does 35 in prison, 59 convicted and 19 more awaiting a trial as of April 2016 count as any? Do a google search next time you try to make a claim.

This is a welcome development. The republicans have done so much to corrupt, undermine, distort, and co-opt our basic electoral system over the past generation that we have far more need of someone of ability who is focused primarily on defending the foundations of our basic political system than we have of yet another presidential candidate. There is a place for both, but Holder as an advocate will likely be more effective in terms of what is now needed than Holder as political candidate (and, only a possible President out of a huge field).

Thank you for putting this lie to rest. It’s one of those pernicious ones that needs to go.

I think you’re probably right about that. What he’s doing now is some of the most important work for democracy going forward. It’s the type of thing that doesn’t bring one much media attention, but it’s crucial to the viability of our country.

LOL! Next time you post an article to support your bullshit claim, you might want to read it first:

“Top executives at the so-called “too big to fail” banks have avoided any criminal charges, even as their banks paid tens of billions of dollars in fines to settle charges of wrong doing leading up to the financial crisis.”

And please keep things in proportion. The GR was 17X bigger than the S&L crisis. The S&L crisis produced 30,000 criminal referrals. Eric Holder produced ZERO. The S&L investigators put 945 bankers in jail, many of them executives. Eric TBTJ Holder - you got it - ZERO.

There isn’t a big enough font in the universe for the FUCK YOU that’s due Eric “Never Prosecute a Bank” Holder. This raging asshole presided over the biggest financial crime in US history when he turned a blind eye and deaf ear to the unimaginable actions of big banks against US homeowners; and, the DNC wonders why Trump won. Holder/Obama refused to do a damn thing about the banking theft, and they let Tim Geitner “foam the runway” for the banks to land gently as taxpayers picked up the tab. I almost wish Holder would run just to see him take the political beating he so deserves.
