wow this AP annoucnement is so uninspired. Go watch the video, it’s only four and a half minutes long: YouTube
It starts out kind of shaky but builds to an incredible performance. There’s so much emotion, you can feel the rage in his words. No hint of a dead mechanical performance people have complained about in the recent past, Eminem is livid. LIVID.
And this isn’t just about Trump ignoring issues to stoke his own ego like the AP piece is implying. There is a ton of social commentary packed into this piece centered around racial issues, minority injustice, and white supremecy. And the main theme is that Trump is a weak ineffectual leader making these issues worse. And the closing remarks that I got out of the video echo JFK’s misquote, that being neutral is siding with oppression, so you’re either against Trump or with his fans.
I did want to add this comment I saw
I don’t think there could have been a better choice. Em is the most prominent white rapper in the world, and lyrically he is a legend amongst commoners. Kanye wouldn’t yield this reaction, Hova wouldn’t…I can’t think of a single classic heavyweight more suited for this diss track
And I’ll just close with a few lines the internet has found especially remarkable:
You’ve got no nuts like an empty asylum
and
Racism’s the only Thing he’s Fantastic [Four]
'Cause that’s how he gets his fucking rocks off, and he’s orange
and
Then who’s gonna pay for his extravagant trips back and forth with his family
His golf resorts and mansions
Same s— that he tormented Hillary for and he slandered
Then does it more from his endorsement of Bannon
Support for the Klansmen
Tiki torches in hand
For the soldier that’s black and comes home from Iraq and is still told to go back to Africa.
Guess he’s off the christmas card list.
Palin, KR and Nugent, however, …
I saw it in real time last night, and I completely agree with your assessment. It was nothing short of brilliant, delivered by literally the only person on the planet who could’ve done it and with such heft. Just unbelievable.
Never been a big fan of rap and . . . Wow. That was a powerful statement.
I’m not really a fan of rap music. But I just became a fan of Eminem.
I listened to it yesterday and I can’t say how much I love it and how much I love Eminem.
Amen amen amen/
Eminem is a damn genius with words.
Here is an 88 year old from Michigan who completely agrees with Eminem.

Wow, just wow…
That was a thing of spoken word beauty…
