Mr McCormick (you ass) if you’re amused, that makes it all worthwhile. You might want to advise all those Republicans who have clearly stated that their goal is reducing the votes of the poor and minorities to STFU.
I worked a number of elections as an Assistant State’s Attorney in Cook County, all of them in Chicago. At any given time in a voting precinct of Chicago on Election Day one could find Assistant State’s Attorneys, Assistant United States Attorneys, Assistant Illinois Attorney Generals, representatives from Chicago voting watchdog organizations (such as Project LEAP), at least one Chicago Police officer (one was assigned to every precinct), judges from both major political parties, and the volunteers helping run the election.
When polls closed, we had to remain as the ballots were physically counted by machine and then call the numbers into the State’s Attorney’s Election unit. We then also got a copy of the printed-out tally, which was forwarded to the same unit. Any discrepancy between the counted ballots and the numbers phoned into the Election unit triggered an immediate investigation.
We all know Chicago was legendary in the past for election shenanigans. But I can tell you it is virtually impossible to rig an election at the precinct level. And that’s where the votes are cast and counted.
And I don’t recall seeing any Republicans (other than Republican election judges) in the dicier parts of town. Which, if they really wanted to see how things worked up close, was the only place to be.
“Hopefully between DOJ and the Commission we can clean up the voter rolls. For the life of me, I don’t know why people should be against cleaning them up. Of course, that’s a rhetorical statement, because I do know why some people are against it. In any case, here’s to continuing to do what’s right for our country and the voters!”
Because - we see you - and don’t believe that you are working in voters’ interests, but instead in the interest of one party.
You mean there was “no collusion”?? Bullshit.
Every time these repukians come up with this garbage, I have trouble with the logistics concept. For instance, how many illegals votes does it take to shift the dial on an election? 5 votes, hardly, 500 votes may make the dial twitch; you really need closer to one million illegal votes to swing an election in even a modestly sized community. Assuming they had to get bused in since they are not residents; that means (at 60 people per bus) at least 833 buses. Who got that contract and didn’t anyone notice this wagon train of buses coming in? Let’s not even discuss portapotties! At one potty per 100 people where in heavens will you set that up and not attract official attention?
There is nothing off limits from politicization by today’s GOP. It has lost its honor, its integrity.
