Not sure if it helps or makes it worse, but apparently this guy’s been at this a long time and has failed repeatedly. From Wikipedia:
Von Spakovsky’s tenure at the Justice Department was marked by a focus on voter eligibility and voter fraud. In 2005, he led the Department’s approval of a controversial Georgia law requiring voters to produce photo ID, despite strong objections from Justice Department staff that the law
would disproportionately harm and disenfranchise African-American voters.Von Spakovksy subsequently acknowledged that he had written a law review article supporting such photo ID laws under the pseudonym “Publius”, prompting concerns that he should have recused himself from the Justice Department decision. The Georgia law was subsequently overturned by a federal judge, who compared it to a “Jim-Crow era poll tax”.
Von Spakovsky argued against the re-authorization of the Voting Rights Act in 2006, but the re-authorization overwhelmingly passed Congress and was signed into law by the Bush Administration.

Dear Asshole: The last "mainstream Republicans were Howard Baker and Richard Lugar. Ain’t no more Mainstream Republicans, just Dixiecrats and those fake Religious folks. The Heritage Foundation, on the other hand, was supposed to be, has pretenses of being considered, an academic think tank.

To be fair to Mr. von Spakovsky, he was 100% right and you see the barely democrats in the panel already objecting to Kobach findings.
And second von Spakovsky is being honest about the purpose of the panel, it’s got nothing to do with “voting integrity”, it’s all about voting suppression. Sessions and Pence are the phoney ones pretending that’s something else.

Hans von Spakovsky is well known for his hatred of the American ideals of equality and the right to vote. He has spent his career denying minorities the right to vote and cooking up schemes to cheat people who might vote for a Democrat out of their franchise. In short, he is evil of the worst sort.

Hmmm, I’d like to write a similar letter about the congresstional investigation into whether donnie worked with Vlad to influence the election. I’d only have to change the word “Democratic” to “Republican”.
Side note: what’s up with the author writing “Democratic”, anyway? Isn’t he supposed to use the pejorative form - “Democrat” - that is so widely preferred on the right? Or do they just do that when preaching to the faithful?

As soon as the GOP takes over a state it goes about entrenching itself first and foremost. Voter ID laws, gerrymandering, booting 10’s of thousands from the voter roles and trimming polling locations and the period to to vote. Kobach’s looking to do this on a national level. That’s what this bogus panel is about. So it seems not getting that done is an “abject failure”.
