Impeachment is first and foremost an investigative process that opens up avenues of investigation we would not otherwise have. It’s mandatory in this situation. Timing it right will mean everything though.

I think it’s way too early to be talking about impeachment. A far more useful tactic, for Democrats, is to work on narrowing down the Democratic hopefuls and uniting behind a nominee. Impeachment talk at this point will be playing into Trump’s playbook. He will be on the campaign trail each day, hammering on the Dems for trying to kick him out of office. He will continue to incite violence to the point on an attempted, hopefully unsuccessful, assassination attempt against a Dem impeachment supporter. This is what Trump is good at. His base will be so wound up that they will vote Republicans and Trump back into total control of the three branches. Concentrate on getting the best nominee to run against this asshole… This will be the most peaceful means of getting him out of office. I’m concerned about Trump starting another Civil War…

It’s a smart move on Warren’s part. The party has to face this moment. Use tactical skills to figure out how to hold Trump accountable, not to punt.

Castro has also said impeachment would be a reasonable thing for Congress to pursue.

The point is to elevate this report to the standing it deserves not to downplay it and hope it disappears.
