Discussion: Ed Gillespie Abandoning TV Ads In Virginia Senate Race

Discussion for article #228920

This is the action of a loserā€”which Ed Gillespie has been for his entire sorry existence.

Itā€™s nice to see that Virginia voters arenā€™t falling for the right-wing bullshit this time around.

I see it more as the action of someone who just realized that if he didnā€™t spend that money on TV ads, he might just have it left around for his own personal use after his imminent defeat.

Sounds like a surrender to meā€¦

Remember how the Republicans were bragging about what a great candidate they have in Virginia? Not so much anymore . . . . .

A little of both I think.

Doest this mean that, in a few years, we will be joining here to laugh at Wrenched Pubisā€™ failure of a campaign for Senate?

Wow, not good when a Senate candidate abandons himself.

Pretty simple really.
If thereā€™s no gĀ®ift left at the end of the campaign?
Just what was the purpose of running?!

Word on the street is that what Gillespie is really interested in is running for the governorā€™s office in 2017, and that this race was never figured to be anything but a warmup, a way for him to introduce himself to Virginia and build some name recognition. And my great fear is that he may well be successful in that effort to become governor. I donā€™t see any truly strong leadership emerging out of the Virginia Democratic Party.

That definition hasnā€™t hurt Mr. Romney.

When I read that, my jaw hit the floor.

Which of course Ed canā€™t do, having no jaw to speak of.

So, will Warner free up some of that cash and cut commercials to help out the Dems in the always underfunded House races?

What street are you living on? Gillespie has zero executive experience and zero experience in the AGā€™s office, the traditional steppingstone to the Govā€™s mansion.

And you think that Gillespie exhibits strong Republican leadership?

He has never had a real job, having been a Republican Party hack since he graduated from Catholic U.

This is the first time he has ever sought public office.

Canā€™t wait until Ed loses, so he can go back on the Sunday talk show circuit and spew his particular brand of horseshit.

Iā€™m not sure but I believe Warner was considered one of the ā€œvulnerableā€ Democrats this election cycle.

Watching GOP candidates operate without a money advantage is to witness massive failure.Their message is so weak that only money can force the repetition needed to get voters to believe it. No paid-for repetition - no votes
