Discussion for article #228388
Hey here is an idea…how about some of our candidates mention the way the economy was in 2008 and how it is now? Maybe they are afraid of being considered to be bragging?
The stock market has doubled in value, deficit spending cut in half, 11 million private sector jobs. We have come a long way. Why people are so down Obama is a mystery to me.
Unemployment rate:
-Reagan enters office: …7.5%
-This point in Reagan’s term: …7.1%
-Obama enters office…7.8%
-Now: …5.9%

Not bad, considering Obama inherited a recession/depression, housing crisis, financial crisis, auto industry crisis, TWO wars and a $1.3 trillion deficit.
Conspiracy theorists will be along soon to explain that the data is manipulated. You have to have contact with bodily fluids to catch ebola but all you need is ears to catch ODS.
That commie Obama is killing jobs.
Total US Private Sector Jobs…
-Obama enters office: …111,397,000
-Now: …117,524,000
-Obamacare becomes law:…107,300,000
-Now…117,524,000
Net Gain Since Obama entered office: …6,127,000
Net Gain Since Obamacare became law: …10,224,000
(data from BLS: http://data.bls.gov/timeseries/CES0500000001)
Fuck you, Republicans…
As well as a congress of idiots.
This won’t get much coverage. Anything that can be interpreted as good news for Obama is no news to the corporate media.
I thought he was a tyrant? Tyrants are pretty powerful.
Facts:
–BEFORE OBAMACARE BECAME LAW: 24 of 25 months of private sector job LOSS
–AFTER OBAMACARE BECAME LAW: 59 months of CONSECUTIVE private sector job GAINS.

Thank you, Obamacare!
The longest stretch of consecutive private-sector job gains in the history of the US.,
248,000 jobs created plus 69,000 in upward revisions for July and August. That makes 317,000 jobs added. Also, the average workweek increased slightly and wages have increased 2% over the last year so they obviously weren’t all part time minimum wage jobs. I’d call that a really good report!
Wonderful, but the public still perceives the economy to be languishing. While fewer people are unemployed, those who are employed have seen their wages increase slower than the increase in cost of living. They’re working harder and getting comparatively less in return. So while the economy is improving based on this metric, many Americans aren’t feeling it.
Imagine what they’d be feeling if McCain or Romney had won. After the nearly catastrophic downturn in the worldwide economy, I’m thankful things didn’t get worse…
because they certainly could have.
OK. And your solution is?
ACORN IS COOKING THE BOOKS!!! FREEEEDOMMM!!! /snark
Let’s all thank President Romney for using his keen business acumen to help right the country’s economy.
Worst.
Socialist.
Evah.
You have to think of this from the GOP perspective. Very few of these new jobs went to billionaires, so they don’t really count.
