Discussion for article #223597
In related news Walmart reports flat sales and earnings for the 5th straight quarter. Walmart’s chairman complains that lower income Americans don’t have enough money to shop at the low cost leader and rich folks like him wouldn’t be caught dead in a Walmart buying the Chinese junk they sell. He also says Walmart is facing stiff competition from Dollar General and Amazon. Apparently $7.25 an hour 30 hours a week isn’t enough to allow the typical Walmart employee to actually shop at Walmart.
217K jobs? Obama is a horrible socialist.
He really is a terrible socialist. The only income redistribution in his tenure has been from the middle class to the top 0.1%. His health care plan doesn’t even include the option for people to buy into government supplied health care, much less provide health care for everyone.
The people who call Obama a socialist don’t know what the word means
You can bet also that the 7M increase in population isn’t caused by procreation among the conservative(Viagara) base.
The people who call him a socialist don’t know what the word “conservative” means either.
Socialist? LOL!
When are the 1% of the population going to recognize that they don’t spend enough themselves to support the economy. They need to devise a way of easing the burden they impose upon society by reducing the extent to which they leach off a disproportionate share of the money, so that others of us can share enough of the wealth to support their lavish lifestyle.
I’m reminded of something I learned during what I refer to as my retail incarnation (one of many).
Every once in a while some bright young management type would come along, hear that 80% of sales come from 20% of the product line (it’s true), and decide to just carry the 20% of the inventory and save the space and inventory investment thus becoming a retail hero (at least in their own mind).
What they quickly found (if they were lucky) was that the same thing was true of the new product line, 80% of sales came from 20% of the product line, but the overall sales dropped, because people would come into the store, not believe they had any real selection to choose from, and go somewhere else that offered a broader selection.
If the management types were smart enough they reversed course, but had still harmed their market share enough to have a tough time regaining the confidence of the customers.
I’m not sure this ever happened, but I’ve often wondered if someone who was really stubborn kept cutting back further until they ended up vanishing into thin air, inventory, sales, career and all.
Is something analogous going to happen to the 1%?
Wait a minute! I was just getting used to the idea that the 47% were to blame, we think we’re entitled to health care, food housing, you name it, and we don’t pay income tax, and we want free stuff on top of it. I need more coffee.
In even more related news, because of a bribery scandal involving Walmart de Mexico at least eight top executives are riding off quietly into the sunset, and if you’re wondering where the money went. . . .
The company’s financial outlay is closing in on nearly half a billion dollars as it deals with external and internal inquiries
EXCELLENT News. I am also very happy that the number came in on target, the Financial sector LOVES when the guesstimates of the jobs number are met.
We have now recorded close to a million net new private-sector jobs created since 2014 began.
The GOP trolls are curiously silent on this, other than to claim all the figures have been… “skewed”.
Economy Adds 217,000 Jobs, Unemployment Rate Stays At 6.3
All, without the GOP even lifting a finger to help, and with every bit of obstruction they could muster. President Obama and Democrats can take all the credit here.
