Discussion: Driver Leaves $80,000 Worth Of Frozen Chicken To Rot At Montana Truck Stop

Discussion for article #228140

Good help is hard to find. Isn’t Tyson based out of Springdale, AR? Why yes. Yes it is. Nuggets for snack anyone?
Hall picked up the trailer Aug. 20 in Springdale, Arkansas, and was supposed to deliver it to Kent, Washington, the next day,
This is indeed strange. According to Google Maps that’s 2,059 mi, ~30 hours In current traffic.

Couldn’t make it in one day, usually 24 hours, even if there were three drivers. So with a 10 driving time hour limit per day, that’s AT LEAST 3 calendar days.

Just how is 37,000 pounds of chicken worth $80.000? That’s $2.16 a pound, and chicken (factory farmed) is about $1.39/lb retail at my local store. Even free range organic chickens are only $2.49/lb. My guess is chicken from Arkansas, home to Tyson, which is definitely not organic, hauled by the ton, is not the free range stuff.

“The Volvo truck that hauled the trailer was discovered Thursday in the parking lot of a Nampa Walmart, police said in a statement.”

Aaaaaah, that explains why nobody noticed the smell for a whole month.

that can’t possibly be accurate. if so, someone needs to investigate that trucking company.

You obviously know nothing about the way trucking companies treat their drivers.

I would call him a hero - IF he had unloaded the trailer at a food pantry or rescue mission. With so many starving people, he could have used his misfortune for the greater good. 37,000 lbs of wasted food is sickening.

Seeing how the corporate lobbyists write the rules I would not doubt the accuracy. They also expect them to pay the fuel costs. By the time it is all said and done this driver could have been in the red and decided to cut his losses and give the finger to the corporations who demand serf slave labor.

I wish someone had made use of the food though. The loss of life of the animals and the waste of nutritious food is not cool and next time I hope the driver takes it to a food bank next time. That would be fitting.

This is a bad sign.

You read my mind. It would be impossible to deliver that load the next day. I’m sure it’s just a miscommunication.
