Former Trump attorney John Dowd claimed he knows more than the special counsel about the Russia investigation in a podcast interview with ABC released Tuesday, attributing his knowledge to joint-defense agreements with witnesses in the probe.
Yes, Mr. Dowd. It’s definitely true that the criminals involved in a conspiracy know more about the crimes they’ve committed than the investigators. Funny how that works. But the investigators painstakingly work hard and diligently to bring justice to said criminals. Just give it time.
That was just bizarre. My first thought was the usual “reassuring the audience of one”, but it’s not like Dowd wants to get back into the white house. This guy may want to avoid further public commentary until it’s all over.
I suspect that Trump’s team does know more than Mueller, who hasn’t found out where all the bodies are buried. Yet.

Talking smack now, are we? Quick, how many “departmental attorneys” can the average American name? Pretty sure the list starts and ends with Mueller. And if you think Mueller can’t maneuver around Barr, one way or another, you’re not seeing what I’m seeing.

I like Dowd’s assumption that Barr automatically will work as a backstop for the report. Barr must be pleased …
He’s a terrible lawyer with an irascible temperament. He’s past his prime and his clients usually end up in jail.

He could be right that Mueller won’t write a detailed report. It’s looking like Mueller will nail everyone with crimes unrelated to the Russia conspiracy because he doesn’t want to reveal top secret intelligence. If so then the public will never learn what really happened between Trump and Russia in 2016.
Just my opinion, but I think fetishizing top secret intel like this is a threat to the republic. Sometimes rules need to be broken, like when a Russian intelligence asset is elected president.
I’m old enought to remember when he was going to bring “stability” and “graviitas” to the WH.
